History & Services

Scott McKeown founded RS-Werks about 10 years ago. When they outgrew their original location in Newark, Delaware about two years ago, they moved to Parkesburg. McKeown is like a lot of us as he was hooked on Porsche from a young age. He got his first 911, which he still has, as a teenager and never looked back. When he began, he set about producing cars of impeccable quality.

In the early days he farmed out some work, such as paint. Often disappointed with the results as they did not meet his high standards he found himself re-doing the work anyway. So, he decided to bring everything in-house. RS-Werks now does everything under one roof. From paint to engine builds, to upholstery, it is all done in their workshop.

RS-Werks Shop

RS-Werks will do the mundane for you if you wish. Got a diesel Cayenne that needs a service? How about a 996 and you want to have the IMS bearing addressed? No problem, they have the expertise to perform that work as well. However, the restorations and custom builds are where the real excitement comes from.

Blue 911

Do you want a 1967 911 R tribute car? How about an ST or an RSR? Maybe you have a rundown 1978 911 SC Targa that you want restored to showroom new condition. The sky and your wallet are the limit. These are custom builds of the highest quality you will find anywhere.

RS-Werks has a dozen employees and calling them employees is really doing them a disservice. These folks are artists. From the paintwork to the metal work and so on. I got to observe these folks working and see the results.

I am telling you–the quality is first-rate.

RS-Werks Welding

The parts used are also first rate. McKeown is a bit of a hoarder. I mean that as a compliment. He has a staggering selection of original parts that are otherwise unavailable. Complete engines, gearboxes, nuts, blots, you name it, they have it. One of the cars I saw being built was an ST tribute car. The shocks mounted to it were from an original Porsche ST.

There can not be too many of those bits still laying around, and you certainly won’t find them at your local Pep Boys. If you are striving for authentic, then RS-Werks has you covered.

Joe has been obsessed with cars since he got his very first Matchbox toy in the ‘70s. In 2003, he found a new obsession in track days that led to obtaining his SCCA competition license in 2015. In 2019, he became a certified driving instructor for the National Auto Sport Association. His love for all things four wheels has never wavered, whether it's driving some of the best cars in the world on the racetrack, tackling 2,000-mile road trips in 2-seat sports cars or being winched off the side of a mountaintop in a Jeep. Writing for the suite of Internet Brands Auto Communities sites, including Rennlist.com, Ford Truck Enthusiasts, 6 Speed and more allows him to share that knowledge and passion with others.
