RM Sotheby’s Unveils ‘The White Collection,’ Auction in Early Dec.
The White Collection includes over 500 lots with 56 incredible Porsche sports cars all painted white leading the way.
Have you been looking to add $32 million dollars’ worth of Porsche sports cars to your collection but will only do so if every one of them is painted white? Well, do we have good news for you! RM Sotheby’s recently unveiled “The White Collection” auction. This special auction contains over 500 total lots including 56 highly collectible Porsche sports cars that are all painted a shade of white. Porsche Club of America magazine Porsche Panorama ran a feature on this incredible collection a few years ago. And now you can add part of it to your very own collection. Assuming you like white.
The collection is the work of a single collector. And besides the fascination with the color white, this collector also likes to keep the cars in pristine condition. And the models being auctioned off are some of the tastiest bits of Porsche history. There is a 918 Spyder, a 1993 Carrera RSR, a 1997 GT2, a 1963 356 B Carrera 2, and that just scratches the surface. If you want a 1973 Carrera RS 2.7, you have your choice between a Lightweight and a Touring model. Looking for something more affordable? How about a 1977 924 “Martini Championship Edition” for your consideration? And most of the cars are offered at no reserve. So, you might just land yourself a screaming bargain. But don’t count on it.
The White Collection
The auction will take place December 1 – 2. The facility the cars are stored in is nearly as impressive as the cars themselves. It is brightly light, with high ceilings and reflective floors. The cars are inside, but you will still probably want to wear your sunglasses. If you need a break from all the white you can maybe focus on one of the two red Porsche Junior tractors that will also be crossing the block.
Porsche Memorabilia
Do you want to own a small piece of The White Collection but don’t have the garage space or the funds for another car? Well, there are a couple hundred lots worth of exciting Porsche memorabilia to bid on as well. Some examples include original vintage posters, Porsche dealership display boards, Porsche Design chairs, Porsche Design sleds, Porsche pedal cars, Porsche bikes, Porsche tool kits, and so much more. It is an impressive collection.
Other Cars
Even a diehard Porsche fanatic has other interests. In this auction there are a couple of non-Porsche cars also on offer. There is a 1932 Ford coupe, a 1940 Ford pickup and a cool 1955 custom VW Beetle. And none of them are painted white! But the Porsche collection is obviously the star of the show here. Hopefully all of the cars, parts and memorabilia will find welcoming new homes. Will one of those homes be yours?
