Promodet RWB 964 Turbo is the Definition of Subtle Aggression

By -

This 964 is so custom you’d be amazed by the amount of work gone into this RWB x Promodet collaboration.

RAUH-Welt BEGRIFF (shortened as RWB) Porsches are hot topics among enthusiasts. Some love these cars with fervent passion and dream about owning one on a daily basis. Others simply detest every last detail about them and feel that the company’s sole person is to ruin classic Porsches. Whether you stand on one or the other side of this debate, without a doubt it can be stated that these cars have an incredible amount of work put into them. There are no corners cut when Akira Nakai, founder of RWB, comes and handcrafts you your own personalized Porsche.

Over the course of recent years, there has been a fair share of these builds across the world and needless to say, they are all immaculately crafted. The 964 chassis is without a doubt one of the ideal body styles for this type of build. The incredible timeless design that Porsche implemented into the 964 shows, it was definitely the beginning of the turning point for the brand into the new generation. Thankfully, we get to see one of these stunning builds documented in a beautifully shot cinematic by Driftworks YouTube channel.

The owner of this RWB is Phil Morrison, British drifting legend and co-owner of Driftworks. Morrison wanted his build experience to be authentic as possible, so he had his 964 built in Japan. He then had some driving issues with the car itself, so he drove it around for around 1000 kilometers to fix the issues before loading it onto a shipping container back to the UK. Even when the car was safely in the UK, the issue persisted. Only after a strenuous amount of wiring and parts replacement, the issue ended up being the positive terminals to the fuel pressure regulator.

After that, the car still had an overboosting issue and was causing the car to get fuel cuts and boost cuts. The issue ended up being the issue with the old boost controller. After installation of a new unit, the car was running perfect. With that in hand, we can now move on to the good bits! The car was intended for function more than overall stance or show, so Morrison wanted his tire fitment to not rub under any context. The front fitment is a 275/35/18 and the rear is a 295/30/18 rear Michellin Pilot Super Sport.

Morrison hasn’t been taking it lightly since he got the car fully functional and has been taking it to events and track days on a regular basis. Most of us would be scared to run such a unique and expensive build out on track, but Morrison is staying true to the intended purpose of the 964. We love that.
