Porsche Introduces GT Race Car Experience Program

By -

Enjoy full-track side support from Porsche -while you pilot a 911-based race car around some of the greatest tracks in Europe.

For years Porsche has offered various levels of track focused programs. They provide the opportunity to practice driving skills for 90-minute sessions in any of their current models, even tackling off-road trails in the Cayenne if you desire. From there you can ramp it up to single or multi-day track sessions practicing various skills in some of the more powerful cars in the Porsche stable. The pinnacle program had been the 4-day Masters RSR course, which upon completion, would allow you to apply for a SCCA regional racing license. The Porsche GT Race Car Experience is the next level and will have you piloting full-on, extremely high-performance race cars.

The program will allow drivers to bring their own Porsche race car or you can rent one for the day. Don’t expect to find your typical Hertz rental cars here. The cars that Porsche will provide for the program include the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport, 911 GT3 Cup MR, 911 GT3 R, 935 and even a 911 RSR. The old saying about a rental car being the fastest car is no joke when these are the options.

The cars are just the start of the experience. This program is aimed at drivers that are looking to further develop their racing skills in these extreme machines. To help facilitate this development, the program includes full track side support. Porsche certified instructors are available to work side by side with the driver. This includes track walks as well as data analyses. World Endurance Championship race engineers and mechanics from Manthey-Racing are on hand to ensure the car is running optimally throughout the day. 200 liters of fuel and 1 set of tires are included as well as catering and hospitality. There is even a Physiotherapist available. The driver can focus solely on driving, learning, and having fun.

In case all of this is not enough, there are several optional items the student can decide to add to individualize their program. For those that will be bringing their own race car, its transportation can be handled as part of the experience. The Manthey-Racing folks will give the car an intensive technical inspection before going on track. The racing team will also offer a custom seat fitting for the driver if desired. Of course, there will be any number of spare parts, tires, wheels and so forth should they be needed.

All Porsche driving programs are topnotch and they would not bring out this type of hardware to have students driving around an empty parking lot. The GT Race Car Experience program takes place on some of the most prestigious racetracks in Europe. Venues include: Spa Franchorchamps, the Hockenheimring, the Hungaroring, and the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. Any one of these tracks should sufficiently test the driver and allow the cars to run at full chat.

This newest Porsche experience is a wonderful opportunity to learn from the best team, on the best tracks, in the best cars. However, racing at this level is never cheap, and this program is no exception. Price is based on if you are using your own race car or will rent one, and which car you chose. Prices range from EUR 10,911 to EUR 19,911 per day if using your own race car. It will run EUR 18,911 to EUR 28,911 to rent a car. All prices end in 911, get it? For those with the means and desire to take racing seriously this could be an exciting new option.
