Porsche Accessory Is Causing Quite a Ruckus in the Forums!

Porsche Purse holder and key wrangler accesory by Porsche Design

Porsche Design is notorious for some wild products, from laptops to phones, but this purse holder is probably most bizarre.

It certainly is nothing new for luxury automakers to brand other items that may be quintessential to the lifestyle their cars play into. Porsche, of course, is no exception. In fact, there is an entire line of Porsche Design handbags, timepieces, eyewear, and even laptop computers.  However, this Porsche Design handbag holder seems to have taken the majority of people by surprise. It is a bit of an odd one, and the conversation it ensued is fantastic.

Rennlist user Ms95207x recently posted this thread showing her purse holder fresh after delivery. Though, she is not just being showy. She presents a very good point in bringing up the fact that Porsche Comfort Access is not working on her 992 Porsche 911 when the key is in her handbag. Having keyless entry is a bit of a moot point when you have to dig the key out anyway. Being that the purse holder conveniently attaches the keyfob to the outside of the bag for easy access, it should allow the Comfort Access feature to function properly. However, no amount of justification was going to let the existence of this thing slide in a few Rennlist users’ eyes.

User John McLane was quick to point of the irony of the key fob holder being necessary.

“That’s so funny. They figure you need the key out to work, here’s a holder. Next, they’ll mail you a map atlas as an update if OTA is not working. Maybe a Zune to play your tunes as wireless CarPlay is riddled with glitches,” he says

User Hamerans also has experienced some issues with the Comfort Access.

“Same issue here. I have had to fight with my door handles. Really annoying for a $150k car. My 991.2 and 718 sensed the fob in my purse with no issues,” she says

Meanwhile, users Youngturk and Denny Swift were both left wondering if this accessory is a joke or not. Though we can’t find it anywhere on the Porsche Design website, it is indeed the real deal.

User Flyfisher has some first-hand experience with this exact Porsche accessory.

“It’s no joke. My wife received one with her 2019 Cayenne. We figured it would hold a woman’s purse on the edge of a bar or similar use,” he says

While it is nice that Porsche is thinking to add some options in the accessory lineup for their female owners, it seems most people think it’s just a little bit goofy. As user Chance6 points out.

“Looks like the boys at Porsche Design have been up to their old tricks, taking a break from their overpriced watches,” he remarks.

Of course, this topic couldn’t be brought up without the mention of the iconic “male carryall” Seinfeld episode. Luckily, John Mclane took care of that for us all. What do you think? Is this Porsche Design accessory a clever piece of tech, or a missed mark? Let us know on the Rennlist Forums!
