Porsche 991.2 911 Gets Hilarious ‘Regular Car Reviews’ Treatment

By -

How do you make a modern Porsche 911 rowdy? Slap on some snow tires and head out in “emergency conditions.”

Chances are, you’re well aware of the now-legendary YouTube channel Regular Car Reviews. Long a cult favorite among enthusiasts, the duo behind the channel, Mr. Regular and The Roman, made a name for themselves by serving up a unique kind of humor that jazzes up your average, boring review. The latest target of their dry hilariousness is a Porsche, too. To be more specific, a 991.2-gen 911 Carrera 4S, which they test in the snow on snow tires.

RCR hilariously kicks off their video by poking fun at “fair weather drivers only” Porsche purists. But that lead-in is perfect for this particular test. “It’s as glorious as you think it is,” RCR says. “An all-wheel-drive 911 is just as capable in the snow as a WRX or Evo or Volvo. It just has way more power and a distracting appearance. Ground clearance is an issue. But on snowy roads, this thing rips!”

The Porsche is so fast on slippery pavement, in fact, that the trailing camera car nearly loses it trying to keep up in corners. The driver of that car pleads with the 911 driver to slow down. But who can resist? After all, as RCR points out, “there are Porsches you pamper. And then there are Porsces that you enjoy…savagely.”

After waxing poetic about Porsche’s history and the annoying questions people repeatedly pose when you drive one, RCR gets down to the nitty gritty of what it’s like to drive this 911. “A 911 hushes up to unlawful speed with no conversation. No tactile or audible cues. Acceleration is smoother than an Instagram model’s Photoshopped upper lip.”

“A 911 is a steel roller coaster,” they continue. “It’s fun in a mathematically cold way. Equations and computers deliver constant retail excitement every time. And that’s why putting a 911 on snow tires and taking it out in emergency conditions and taking your dog along is right. Introduce chaos, and a Porsche comes alive.”

Quite humorous, but also quite true. Today’s modern Porsche 911 is every bit as fun as its legendary predecessors, but also quite a bit more refined. But if you really want to, you can also still strip off that layer of safety and just hoon it.
