Porsche Pits World’s Best Against Themselves to Make Awesome 911 Point

What would happen if you could take the world’s greatest of anything and pit it against itself? Ali fighting Ali, a chess match of Magnus Carlsen against himself, or even a tennis battle between dueling Maria Sharapovas? This is the question that Porsche raises in its latest ad for the new 911.

In short, it’s a perfect idea about how if you constantly try to beat yourself, you will always improve. Even if you are facing what seems to be an exact copy of yourself, there is bound to be one thing, a single change or movement, that you can do better, faster, or smarter, which results in a win. It is that better version of yourself that moves on to conquer even more of the world, and eventually a better version of yourself.

It is a fun and interesting way to look at the evolution of a machine like the legendary 911, but it also shows exactly why the 911 is still plugging away after five decades. And why it is still considered one of the greatest sports cars on sale. As Porsche says, this drive for perfection is exactly why the only thing better than a 911 is a 911.
