Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 MFI Is a Real Stunner

Much like its predecessor, the refreshed Carrera 2.7 used the same mechanically fuel-injected flat-six and 915 transmission. But it did so with updated bodywork and those new safety bumpers. Telltale signs include flared fenders, alloy rear trailing arms, roll bar hard mounting points, and of course that massive “Carrera” script.

This particular Carrera 2.7 was also fitted with a ducktail from the factory, a one-year-only 1974 option. And while many of these cars were used on the track, this one appears to have remained a street car its entire life. From the original sale in Italy to stints in Germany and England. The current owner resides here in the states, and put a lot of effort into making the car as correct as possible.

That included an engine overhaul and replacing the aforementioned ducktail, which had gone missing at some point. The car still needs a little work to be perfect, but it’s a great numbers-matching base. And with a reasonable price tag, it might just be a sound future investment as an oft-underappreciated classic, too.
