Picture-perfect Porsches Help Photographers Nab Newspress Accolades
U.K. photographer Jonathan Pearce wins top honors for his stunning Porsche photos, with Jayson Fong and Richard Pardon proving to be strong competition.
It’s not easy to improve on a Porsche, of course, but with the right lighting and the perfect setting and with the moon shining down just right, the perfect Porsche photo may just nab you a Newspress Award.
The 2020 edition of the U.K. honors recently shined a light on the automotive photographers who have taken the art of photography and raised the bar so high that most of their competition can’t even see the bar anymore. Earlier this week, three of these artists–Jonathan Pearce, Jayson Fong, and Richard Pardon–received accolades by the Newspress Awards judges, who were specifically looking for “technical excellence, brilliant composition as well as captivating images,” and they narrowed it down to the three contenders. And all three included their own personal take on Porsche perfection with the shots that were submitted, including the two photos of the Porsche 911 Speedster below that were shot by Pardon).
In the end, however, it was Pearce who won over the panel of judges, who admitted that the decision was not an easy one to make — and judging from these shots, we understand why.
Pearce has a knack for taking an interesting subject and making it even better, using perfect lighting and filtered tweaks to ensure that every gorgeous curve and crisp line on the Porsches he photographs are appreciated the way they should. The exterior night shot of a stunning silver Porsche set against a cityscape is a work of art that begs to be made into a poster.
‘If it were being judged on a single picture, Jayson’s Porsche up on the trolley in the garage would win hands down. The image is just so striking.’
“All three entries are worthy winners for sure,” read the judges’ conclusion. “If it were being judged on a single picture, Jayson’s Porsche up on the trolley in the garage would win hands down. The image is just so striking.
“Richard’s set looks like it’s straight out of a Porsche brochure,” they added. “However, the most striking set is Jonathan’s. His late nights in London clearly paid off.
“It’s a great effort all round; all three should be congratulated on an outstanding job.”
We agree! Congrats to all of these amazing automotive photographers.
