One-of-One 1999 Porsche 911 Classic Club Coupe Is Headed to Auction
Incredibly special and truly unique, the famous 1999 Porsche 911 Classic Club Coupe is going up for grabs with an eye toward raking in big money.
Porsche has churned out more than one Sport Classic build in recent years, which are essentially factory restomods with classic styling and ducktail spoilers, light gray paint, and all of the things that make the 911 so special in the minds of purists. Last year, to celebrate the arrival of the new 992 version, the automaker conjured up something truly special – this 1999 Porsche 911 Classic Club Coupe, a one-off build that answers the question – what if the brand decided to create a 996-gen Sport Classic 911? The result, of course, was this incredibly cool machine, but now, one lucky person is. going to get the chance to bring it home via an upcoming Broad Arrow Auctions sale.
The 1999 Porsche 911 Classic Club Coupe began life as a well-used Carrera model before the folks at Porsche Classic in Germany treated it to a complete and rather extreme makeover. On the outside, that process included adding a double bubble roof, bumpers and side skirts from a GT3, a ducktail spoiler, Fuchs wheels, and a Sport Gray Light paint job with Club Blau graphics.
Inside the cabin, the 996 Classic Club Coupe has received a complete overhaul as well, with houndstooth covering the seats and door panels, an Alcantara headliner, blue contrast stitching, and the relatively new Porsche Classic Communication Management Plus infotainment system.
To ensure that this particular restomod had the power to back up its looks, Porsche gave it a brand new heart – a 3.6-liter flat-six from a 996.2 911 GT3, which cranks out 381 horsepower and 284 pound-feet of torque, flowing to the rear wheels via matching six-speed manual gearbox. The 996’s suspension and brakes also came from a GT3, giving it plenty of all-round performance.
The result is something truly special, though of course, there is one caveat – this special one-off won’t go cheap. In fact, the auction house will only provide its own estimate for the car upon request, which means that it’s likely a pretty eye-watering figure. Regardless, given its prominence, this factory-built machine is likely worth it.
