Moves like Porsche: Adam Levine Drives Mission E

Pop mega-star and 356 Speedster owner shares his impressions on the future of Porsche.

As most of us mere mortals await our opportunity to experience the first all-electric Porsche, others are getting the chance right now. We’ve already seen pro racer Mark Webber get his shot in a pre-production Mission E at Porsche’s Weissach test track. Now, Porsche invited pop megastar Adam Levine to take a spin in the Mission E concept. Of course, you’re probably asking yourself, what’s the connection here? Turns out, Levine is a bit of a Porsche fan himself who currently owns a very nice 356.

“My love for Porsche probably started with my uncle, who always had some different Porsche,” Levine said. “And it was always this exotic, incredible thing. The ’58 Speedster I bought 10 years ago. It’s still, to this day, the most beautiful car I’ve ever seen in my life. The way it makes you feel when you drive it is kind of as if you’re floating on a cloud. It’s irreplaceable to me.”

It’s pretty clear that Levine loves his vintage Porsche. But what does he think about the future of the brand, i.e., the Mission E? “This is really fun, actually. This car is amazing. Porsche people are not normal. Because we want more out of driving. The problem with electric cars is that they just don’t have soul, and like, a beating heart. This actually does, which is amazing to me. This car connects you to the road, and it connects you to driving. This is a Porsche. It’s just a singular experience.”

Not that we would expect anything less than a glowingly positive review in a Porsche-branded video. But it’s clear that the Mission E is shaping up to be something extra special, regardless. And Porsche’s preemptive attempt at convincing the motoring public that EVs can be just as dialed in as their internal combustion-powered rides is in full effect.
