2024 Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid

2024 Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid SUV and Coupe will develop 729 horsepower and 700 pound-feet of torque.

Porsche has recently announced the latest model in the third generation Cayenne lineup and it is the most powerful ever. The new Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid will sit at the top of the range. As before this is a plug-in hybrid. For the 2024 model year that means a combination of a 591 horsepower 4.0L twin turbo V8 and a 174 horsepower electric motor. Total system output is 729 horsepower and 700 pound-feet of torque. Porsche estimates a 0 to 60 time of 3.5 seconds. Of course, Porsche is always conservative with their acceleration estimates. They also estimate the 911 Carrera S at 3.5 seconds and we know it is closer to 3 seconds flat. So expect about the same performance here. The top speed is 183 mph. You have no excuse for dropping off your kid late to soccer practice when you are behind the wheel of one of these.

Porsche managed to get more power out of the 2024 Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid thanks mainly to a larger high-voltage battery. It is a 25.9 kWh unit mounted under the trunk area. Speaking of electricity, there is a new 11 kW on-board charger that is capable of reducing charging time to less than 2.5 hours when used with a suitable wallbox or charger. As impressive as all this is, that is not all there is to this new model that will be offered in both SUV and Coupe form.

Suspension

Cayenne Turbo

A Porsche has never been just about acceleration. To wear the Porsche badge the vehicle must be able to handle the curves as well. To this end the new Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid models will include an adaptive air suspension system. This system features new two-chamber, two-valve technology. “This allows separate adjustability of both compression and rebound settings. The advantages of this setup are an improvement in comfort and handling and expanding the breadth between the Comfort and Sport Plus settings of the system. The suspension aims to combine precise handling during spirited driving with a comfort-oriented setup when cruising, and the best possible reduction of dive and squat motions when accelerating and braking. Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) is also included as standard on the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid. Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) as well as rear-axle steering can be ordered as options at an extra cost.”

Features and Design

Interior

Any Porsche Turbo model needs to have styling features that help identify it as the special model that it is. In the case of the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid that includes a front fascia unique to the Turbo models with larger air intakes and air blades in high-gloss black. The wheel arches and lower rear fascia are painted in body color. Two brushed aluminum dual exhaust tailpipes can be found at the back, and there are red brake calipers all around. Step inside and you will find aluminum trim on the dash and doors as well as a roof liner in Race-Tex. As standard you also get a heated GT Sport steering wheel and 18-way adjustable leather Sport seats.

Pricing and Availability

2024 Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid

The 2024 Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid has an MSRP of $146,900, not including the $1,650 delivery, processing and handling fee, while the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid Coupe has an MSRP of $151,400. The configurator for these new models is live and I was able to easily build a model that crossed the $200K threshold and that was without the pricey paint to sample option. But an expensive Porsche Turbo should not be a surprise to anyone. The surprise will be from sports car drivers on the road that get left at the light by one of these new Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid models. You can order yours now and you can begin to win at the stop lights with it in the second quarter of 2024 when deliveries are expected to begin.
