Tesla’s finest gets a ton of press for its ‘Ludicrous’ acceleration. But it doesn’t take much for this Porsche to put it in its place!

Much has been made of the Tesla Model S and its “Ludicrous” mode. And for good reason. The all-electric sedan is capable of ripping off sub 2.3-second 0-60 times, making them fun little drag racers right out of the box. But while we await the arrival of Porsche’s Tesla killer, the Mission E, is there any hope for fans of the brand? Well, of course. And it comes in the form of this brand new, modded 911 Turbo S.

So what, exactly, does it take to beat a range-topping Tesla Model S P100D in a good old-fashioned drag race? Take one part 911 Turbo S, give it a full exhaust, cat delete, and Champion Stage 2 tune. Line it up, cut a good tree, and you’ve got a recipe for success. According to this video’s description, that combo is good enough for 675 horsepower (588 at the wheels). And with all-wheel drive and sticky tires, it obviously has no problem putting those extra ponies to the ground.

The Tesla allegedly puts out an identical 588 ponies to the wheels, but also a substantial 920 lb-ft of torque. That’s more than enough to allow the EV to out 60 foot the Porsche each time. But the 4,900 pound hair dryer loses momentum midway and is forced to watch the 911 Turbo S blow by it and record a win. Not once, but twice.

So, perhaps it isn’t time to give up on good old gas power just yet. Sure, the Tesla is an impressive machine. And we’re talking about a modified Porsche here. But that’s the beauty of the internal combustion engine: It can easily handle any number of mods, often very well. And it won’t leave you stranded and searching for a power outlet after a handful of super-fast runs, either!
