If you’re unfamiliar with the name C.J. Wilson, it’s probably worth a spot in that massive memory storage bank you have upstairs. First and foremost, he’s known for being an 11-year veteran pitcher in Major League Baseball. He started as a reliever with the Texas Rangers and grew into a fine starting pitcher with the Anaheim Angels (a great move for him, as he’s a SoCal native). All that money he’s earned (he signed a $77 mill deal in 2011) has allowed him to pursue a second major passion of his: cars and racing.

You might have seen Wilson’s name pop up before, like when he took delivery of his otherworldly MSO iridescent McLaren P1 with gold wheels. But as wild and fun as that car is, he’s quite serious about this car business and owns his own racing company, C.J. Wilson Racing. The team races Porsches in the IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge GS Class.

The squad was recently out in Cali at Willow Springs International Raceway with the new Porsche Cayman GT4 road car (which belongs to C.J.) and the Cayman GT4 Clubsport, which is getting ready for some real racing. They were there to shoot a spread for European Car Mag, but while they were at it, they figured they’d invite The Smoking Tire front-man (among other things) Matt Farah out for a drive, as well. As usual, Farah did his one-take video business and talked through the drive about what the car feels like. Check it out:

And of course C.J. Wilson’s Instagram is full of beautiful shots of the GT4 and the GT4 Clubsport paired together in a sweet symphony of lusty metal shapes.

Big thanks to @razkrog our @imsa_racing @continental_tire @porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport & @cjwilsonphoto’s road version never looked so good! #DarthCayman #APICertified #ForWhatYouDo #ONECapitalLLC #willowsprings @thesmokingtire
