‘Jigglypuff’ Porsche Proves That a 911 GT3 Looks Good in Any Color
Parking in front of a fire hydrant is never advisable, but you should not shy away from a bold color on your 911 GT3.
First things first. I had to Google what the heck a Jigglypuff was. Sorry Pokémon fans, that is just not something I follow. But the 992 911 GT3 is something I very much follow. And lo and behold the two worlds have collided recently thanks to this Reddit post made by the user that goes by the name “eastbeast.” It contains a picture of a current generation 911 GT3 wrapped in a color that resembles Pepto Bismol pink. It also happens to have the aforementioned Jigglypuff character featured on the side as well as being parked in front of a fire hydrant. The driver seems to have received a citation for the parking job. But is the color choice also a violation? I don’t think so. Of course, I wrapped my own 911 Turbo S purple, so keep that in mind.
But I think a Porsche, especially something like a GT3 screams for bold colors. I mean why not? And if it is a wrap, then all the more reason. If you get sick of the color or want to sell the car, then just remove the wrap and the much more conservative paint color will still be intact underneath. The GT3 is a track-oriented car.
It is meant to be fun. And let’s face it. With that huge wing on the back, it is already a little bit obnoxious. So why not lean into that a bit more and go with a color like the pink hue we see here?
Pink Pig
It is not like Porsche and the color pink don’t have a history. One of their most famous racing cars of all-time was the ‘Pink Pig’ 917/20 that raced at Le Mans in 1971. Decades later the livery was revived for the 911 RSR that raced at Le Mans in 2018.
Head over to the online Porsche shop and even today you can still order all sorts of Pink Pig gear ranging from backpacks to umbrellas. And it is not just Porsche. The BWT Alpine F1 car has a pink livery that is a very close shade to what you see on this wrapped 911 GT3. So, if it is good enough for the pinnacle of racing cars, why not for a sporty streetcar?
Matt Farah
At the beginning of the year Matt Farah was catching some heat over his Frozen Berry 718 Spyder. And I said back then, the same thing I am saying now. These cars are about fun and whimsy. It may not be to your exact taste or style.
But in a sea of black, silver, and white cars it is refreshing to see something bold. So, if you are considering a new Porsche or wrapping your current one. Don’t be afraid to go bold with the color choice. Just don’t park it in front of a fire hydrant.
