Impossibly Priced “Slant Nose” for Sale on Craigslist

It’s not quite a barn find, but sometimes a very rare model springs up in the most unlikely of places. In this case, the location is central New Jersey, and the car is a wide-body, a slant nose, and an air-cooled wonder. Similarities to the legendary “slant nose” end there, however. But, for just over two grand, you can have yourself this 930 replica. OK, that might be a stretch of the word “replica.”

The Craigslist ad says that the car is running well, but I probably wouldn’t drive it at night, or in the dark. Or anywhere at all, seeing as it has no lights. It could be an interesting project, but being based on the wrong car to start with, a VW Beetle, it’ll never have the right proportions of the legendary 930. If the picture above is any promise, it looks like the current owner knows at least a thing or two about the air-cooled flat fours.

Is it a project worth completing, or is it sacrilege to even consider making a slant nose out of a Beetle?
