Got a Spare $3 Mill? Then This Street Legal 911 GT1 Evolution Could Be Yours

1997 Porsche 911 GT1 Evolution

We all know the price of 911s has been steadily climbing at auctions lately, but this is getting a bit ridiculous.

Still, who am I to decide a car’s value? If someone wants to pay $3-million dollars for this 1997 911 GT1 Evolution that’s up for bidding at RM Sotheby’s Monaco auction this May, then that’s the value of the car. And if they’ve got $3-mill to spend on a car, odds are pretty good they won’t miss the money.

Of course, who could blame anyone for wanting this hot ride? There were only 14 of these GT1s ever made, and according to the duPont Registry, chassis no. GT1 993-117 isn’t just the first of the lot to be publicly sold, but also the only one that’s street legal.

While the street is indeed an option, this 911 GT1 made her bones on the track. In 31 starts (including the Rolex Daytona 24 Hours of Daytona), the car took home 13 first place trophies, including three at the Canadian GT Championships between 1999 and 2001.

RM estimates this ultra-rare 911 will fetch between €2,700,000 and €3,000,000, roughly $2,975,000 to $3,306,000 USD. So if you don’t have a spare fortune lying around, now would be a really good time to start saving up.
