Porsche Thanksgiving

Fun Colors

Fun colors are really nothing new for Porsche. But they are really upping their game especially on the Taycan models. Sure, you can still get the Taycan in white or black but some of the standard metallic colors are really unique. Frozen Blue Metallic, Mamba Green Metallic, and Frozen Berry Metallic are all on offer. On top of that Porsche announced this year that the 2022 Taycan will be available with Paint to Sample and Paint to Sample Plus. Paint to Sample offers a choice of 65 additional colors, at present. Paint to Sample Plus, gives customers almost complete freedom in their choice of color. You can match your Taycan to your favorite watch band color if you want to. Thank you, Porsche, for making the future a bit brighter.

GT4 PDK

GT4 and Spyder PDK

When the 718 GT4 and Spyder were first launched it was a manual transmission only affair. Not that there is anything wrong with that. A manual transmission is well suited to these cars even if the long gearing robs some of the fun. But the PDK is a wonderful transmission, and it makes these cars significantly faster. And the PDK option even adds an extra 8 pound-feet of torque to the equation. We can argue all day long about which transmission is better. But you can’t argue that at least having the choice is something we should be thankful for.

Boxster 25 Years

Boxster 25 Years

We should thank Porsche for giving us such an amazing roadster and keeping with it for the last quarter of a century. But on top of that they rolled out a special anniversary model to celebrate the 25 years that it has been on sale. It is designed to look like the concept car that debuted at the 1993 Detroit Auto Show. But this special car is about more than styling. It comes with the lovely 4.0L flat six from the GTS model. Sport exhaust is also included as is the lower PASM suspension and Porsche Torque Vectoring with a mechanical limited-slip differential. This is an anniversary car with more than just a pretty face. Only 1,250 of these special cars will be built. That is 1,250 more reasons to celebrate Porsche Thanksgiving.

Porsche ThanksgivingTaycan Cross Turismo

The Taycan sedan has been a home run as the first Porsche EV. I have driven several examples both on the road and around an autocross course and they are very impressive. But the Cross Turismo might be my favorite. The wagon styling really suits the Taycan and the extra utility combined with the Taycan performance is one heck of a package. All of the performance that the Taycan sedan offers is here in the Cross Turismo, but it adds style and space. It is a win-win proposition. We are thankful that Porsche brought this to us in 2021.

Joe has been obsessed with cars since he got his very first Matchbox toy in the ‘70s. In 2003, he found a new obsession in track days that led to obtaining his SCCA competition license in 2015. In 2019, he became a certified driving instructor for the National Auto Sport Association. His love for all things four wheels has never wavered, whether it's driving some of the best cars in the world on the racetrack, tackling 2,000-mile road trips in 2-seat sports cars or being winched off the side of a mountaintop in a Jeep. Writing for the suite of Internet Brands Auto Communities sites, including Rennlist.com, Ford Truck Enthusiasts, 6 Speed and more allows him to share that knowledge and passion with others.
