GT2 For Sale Takes the Widow Maker to Frightening Levels
The already fierce 997 GT2 comes packing over 500 horsepower. However, this one, built by BBI Autosport, has a whole lot more.
The 997 Porsche 911 GT2 is no joke. With two variable geometry turbochargers forcing air into the vicious 3.6-liter flat-six engine, creating a monumental 523 horsepower, it is certainly a handful. Especially when considering the only available transmission is a six-speed manual. However, that power just isn’t enough for some. This car is a prime example of that mindset. The seller claims it to have over 1,500 horsepower. The concept of an additional 1,000 horsepower is downright frightening in the rear-wheel-drive car with a manual transmission. If it sounds right up your alley, though, there’s great news. It’s for sale.
The car is currently listed for sale in an exotic car sales group on Facebook. However, there are not a whole lot of specific details about the car in the ad. After some investigating and reading through the comments on the post, we’ve managed to dig up a bit more info.
The full story, as it seems.Â
The seller has confirmed that this GT2 was built entirely by BBi Autosport, who is certainly well known for their high-performance Porsche builds. It appears this car formerly belonged to a BBi Autosport customer named Darren. The car has a whole BBi built engine block with twin Xona Rotor turbochargers. Furthermore, it has water/meth injection, a triple disk clutch, upgraded brakes, an upgraded intercooler kit, and high-performance axles. Assisting in putting the massive power to the ground is a fully built transmission and a fullStreetcup JRZ Pro suspension setup. No expense was spared in this build. There is not much left untouched on this GT2. So, while it may have a frightening amount of power, you can rest easy in knowing it was properly built to handle the power by people who know what they’re doing.
In another Facebook post by BBi Autosport themselves, they outline the car’s past performance at the Kansas Airstrip Attack in 2020. The Airstrip Attack is a half-mile standing start race event. The car did a remarkable 207.6 mile-per-hour run. As if the build sheet and power numbers aren’t enough to convince you that this car is built with speed in mind, its actual performance should do the trick.
Price Tag to Match the Power Figures
As mentioned before, this car is currently for sale. However, a completely stock 997.1 GT2 can still fetch north of $200,000. While we don’t have an exact figure on how much this BBi build would cost, it’s safe to assume it’s north of six figures considering the materials and labor involved. As a result, this car is currently listed for sale for $350,000. It’s also worth noting that the car has only 12,000 miles on it. Unfortunately, though, the number of miles on the engine and transmission build are not specified.
While this price point seems extremely high, it’s likely not unreasonable for the performance and modifications involved. Of course, it’s a very niche market, but it will likely find a new home in the hands of someone willing to brave this monumental amount of power. Regardless, it’s interesting to get to see something like this come up for sale at all!
