Great Deal on a Porsche 991.2 4S?

Porsche 991.2

Is this oddly optioned 991.2 a great deal in the making, or is there another reason for its lack of interest?

If there are two things we’re sure of in life, it’s that taste is subjective and great deals on new Porsches don’t happen often. But what if you have, say, a brand new Porsche 991.2 with questionable option choices? Well, it would appear that you get a bit of a discount. To the tune of $17k off sticker, which is pretty significant.

So what’s the catch? Well, that’s what Rennlister ducstar wanted to know, so he posted a query here in the forums. And as you’ve probably already figured out, the problem boils down to a couple of options that will only appeal to a certain kind of person.

“What are your thoughts on why a nice discount on this 4S hasn’t result in a quick sell? I can’t see why it’s still sitting on the lot. Is it the white gauges or the red leather?”

As SKM points out, the OP somewhat answered their own question.

“Built in January 2017, so it has been there since last Feb-Mar. Red interior is definitely a limited market.”

Or, as many note, the 991.2 doesn’t appear to be optioned correctly for the market it’s been presented in!

“Not sure why you would spend $$$ on CF interior trim and PSP but not upgrade to at least 14-way seats,” says sessionstu.“Ventilated seats in FL are a must. Unless you like showing up somewhere with a wet back. Nice car otherwise.”

“Thank God it has that heated steering wheel and AWD for those frigid FL winters. I hear they can be brutal,” adds Dewinator.

Regardless, this particular 991.2 appears to be a great deal by all accounts. Even in spite of its odd pairing of options.

“If you are thinking about buying this car and like the red interior and the options it has, I’d consider that big discount a rare opportunity,” notes StormRune. “When I was just shopping I was getting some pretty big discount offers on remaining 17s not too far off from this, so the fact it has been a prior model year car for a while is a big part of it.

It is a little unusual to see someone spend the money for the Sport Package and other cost items here and not also do one of the Premium packages or the things from them (Entry and Drive, light design package, LED headlights, vented/heated seats, etc.), so that might have slowed down the sale a bit.

Allocations for 18s are drying up fast and there’s a pending multi-month shutdown on the 911 assembly line. I won’t be surprised if you’ll see the prices on some of these discounted cars come back up soon.So if you are thinking about it I wouldn’t think too long.”
