Remember, LEGO isn’t just for kids.

When it comes to creating toys for the big kids, LEGO has been absolutely killing it for the last several years. From the launch of the Speed Champions family of kits, all the way up to the Technic and Creator models, LEGO blessed automotive fans with dozens and dozens of incredible cars to build. One of our favorites from the past is the 911 GT3 RS that launched back in 2018. That kit has been discontinued, but thankfully LEGO is once again gracing us with a massive Technic model for the Stuttgart fans with a Porsche 911 RSR model.

This Technic Porsche 911 RSR (LEGO #42096) features 1,580 pieces, and it comes with all the engineering details that make Technic sets so great. The doors hinge, the engine pistons move when you spin the wheels, and the 911 RSR also has a functioning rack and pinion steering system.

If you have a child that is doing distance learning in your home, use them as an excuse to buy one of these. “It’s to help teach them basic engineering skills, I swear!â€

Just make sure you have a big enough shelf to hold the thing when you get finished putting it together. Like all of these advanced Technic models, the 911 RSR is bigger than you expect. LEGO says that the completed model is more than 5-inches tall and 7-inches wide, but more importantly, it’s nearly 20-inches long. That is just shy of two feet.

Comparatively, the older 911 GT3 RS Technic model was larger in every dimension at 6-inches tall, 9-inches wide, and a full 22-inches long, it also featured nearly double the amount of pieces at 2,704. The benefit of this reduction in size comes with a reduction in price. The old GT3 was $260, but the new 911 RSR is just $150. If you want to snag one of these for yourself, you can head to the online LEGO store or any major online retailer of your choice.
