Bros Propose Mount Rushmore-Style Tribute to Paul Walker

In these turbulent times, we need a unifying force. And apparently that unifying force is Paul Walker.

It’s no secret that our country is going through some seriously turbulent times. And different people have different opinions on how to fix things. But a comedian by the name of Tom Allen has perhaps the most unique solution for uniting the country. And that idea is to memorialize Paul Walker. Specifically, by building a 12-foot tall statue of the late actor and Porsche lover. Or, even better, by chiseling his face into the cliffs of San Clemente, California.

Allen, operating under the guise of his alter-ego Chad Kroeger (yes, as in the lead singer of Nickelback), made his impassioned plea for a large statue in front of the San Clemente City Council recently. Then, his fellow bro J.T. Parr presented the idea for an even grander tribute. “One of the Dakotas has Mount Rushmore, we could have Mount Paul Walker,” Parr proposed. And if all of this isn’t hilarious enough, it wasn’t the first time the council heard these pleas.

Kroeger first petitioned the board back in April, when he originally proposed the erection of a statue honoring the late actor. Hilariously enough, the board actually approved the construction of a one-foot statue of Walker to “ward off sharks” spotted near San Clemente. But that clearly wasn’t enough. “Paul was a giant among men, and a one foot statue is not gigantic enough to unify this nation. It’s obviously too small to create a global impact,” Kroeger said.

Both Allen and Parr somehow manage to keep a straight face through the whole thing. But the board and audience can’t help but bust out in laughter. “They really enjoy us, which is cool,” Allen told CBS Los Angeles. “They’re not annoyed – they were all sort of smiling, all the people [in the audience] there, too.” And we must admit, it has us chuckling pretty hard, too.
