Default 718 vs 987S - lowering boxster...

high everybody, new member in the group... coming from Italy and in love with boxster since 2021..... new owner of a 03-2021 718 (std 300 cv) on my way in few weeks and currently driving a 01-2006 987S... both boxster... my 987S has original low shock absorber and when going down into my garage, the nose just "skip" the floor while entering... the 718 (on the way) has currently std system that i would like to lower to 718S level meaning - 20 mm... anybody can tell me if @ - 20 mm 718 will work (meaning won't touch) as 987S is doing today? thx...

718 with std level

987S with original low suspension

Ciao Giorgio. Does your car have SPASM or PASM? My car (2018 Cayman S) had neither from the factory. I have lowered it 20 mm with Ohlins coilovers for track use and it is fine for daily driving.

I installed KW HAS springs on my 16 Spyder. Car looked and drove better than stock!

There's no SPASM option for the base, but there's PASM, which lowers it 10mm. That's what I ordered, and will leave it alone. But if you absolutely want 20mm lower, you'll have to go aftermarket, and deal with installation, 4-wheel alignment, etc. And harsher ride than with PASM, but depending what you want the car for. If you have to ride dirt roads, PASM would feel much better. Good luck.

I put Ohlins coilovers on my 2018 Cayman S for track use. Car had no PASM/SPASM from factory.

At current settings, I'm a little more than 20mm lower than stock. It's fine for getting around day to day without frequent scraping, but it's a harsh ride.

I do need a low profile jack and ramps to jack the car up now, but that's a minor inconvenience.

My opinion - if you want to add coilovers for performance and don't mind the harsh ride, go ahead.
If you just want to lower the car for cosmetics with springs, you can achieve that but may compromise the handling and ride for cosmetic benefit alone. Only you can decide if that's worth it.
