‘Air/Water’: A Luftgekühlt Spinoff with an All-Inclusive Porsche Experience

Air/Water

‘Air/Water’ event will take place in Costa Mesa, California on April 27 and all Porsche vehicles are invited.

Ten years ago, American Porsche driver Patrick Long created the Luftgekühlt event. This Southern California event was created to celebrate the historic air-cooled Porsche models of the past. To say the event has been a success is an understatement. Not only did it quickly become one of the largest and most popular Porsche events in the Untied States, but it expanded globally as well. Now there are Luftgekühlt events in Denmark, and Poland. And the Porsche passion at those events is just as strong as it is here in the U.S. And now for 2024 the California show is returning with a twist. That twist is called Air/Water.

On April 27 in Costa Mesa, California the creators of Luftgekühlt will present Air/Water. Unlike the traditional Luftgekühlt which focuses on just air-cooled Porsches, Air/Water will include all Porsche vehicles. That means that all 996 and newer 911 models can take part. But even beyond that, this event welcomes electric vehicles, hybrids, and even diesel tractors. Street cars and race cars, new and old will all be in attendance. Are folks excited about this new format? Tickets to display your Porsche are already sold out. However, tickets are still available for spectators. They are $50 and can be purchased by clicking HERE.

Air/Water

The Air/Water show will feature all Porsche vehicles. However, replicas, non-Porsche-powered swaps, and vehicles of that ilk are not included. So, you can be assured that every car you are looking at is an authentic Porsche. And there will be plenty to look at. There will also be plenty to buy. Broad Arrow’s auction will take place at the event and will offer approximately 70 Porsches.

That includes the 1969 Porsche 908/02 Langheck Flunder Spyder that took a class win at the 1970 Le Mans 24 Hours. The pre-auction estimate for that car is $4,750,000 to $5,750,000. In addition to the cars crossing the block there will also be dozens of Porsche memorabilia lots available for sale.

Luftgekühlt

The Air/Water event does not mark the end of Luftgekühlt. The traditional event will live on. The next Luftgekühlt is scheduled to take place later in 2024. But if you can’t wait for the next Southern California show, there will be two European stops in 2024. The first stop is in Wroclaw, Poland on June 14 – 15 and Copenhagen, Denmark on September 7. Luftgekühlt continues to grow internationally. After five years of shows in the U.S. only, it headed to Europe for the first time in 2018 with a stop in Munich, Germany. Now there are two European shows, and it would not surprise us to see even more added in the future.

With over 75 years of history of street, track, and even farm vehicles to feature there is never any shortage of Porsche goodness to observe at these shows. If you are even a casual Porsche fan this is an event that you should have on your calendar.
