700+ HP 2024 Porsche Cayenne PHEV Teased Ahead of Summer Debut
The 2024 Porsche Cayenne PHEV is set to become the most powerful Cayenne ever when it debuts later this summer.
As most are aware by now, the Porsche Cayenne is receiving a bit of a refresh for the 2024 model year, one that brings about revised exterior styling, but more notably, an interior overhaul complete with a new multi-screen dashboard like the Taycan, a 911-based steering wheel, and a toggle-style shifter, along with more power. However, something far more sinister is on the way, as the German automaker itself recently teased the all-new 2024 Porsche Cayenne PHEV model, proving a few details and some photos of the electrified SUV out testing.
At the moment, the range-topping model in the Cayenne lineup is the Turbo GT, which generates a hefty 650 horsepower from its twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8, good for a blazing 0-60 time of 3.3 seconds. However, the 2024 Porsche Cayenne PHEV figures to blow that model out of the water with around 700 horsepower – which will also make it the most powerful Cayenne ever and a bit better than the current Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid, which made 670 total horsepower for the 2023 model year.
It’s currently unclear if Porsche intends to continue to call its new Cayenne PHEV the Turbo S E-Hybrid, but given the fact that it hasn’t announced such a thing yet, that seems more unlikely. Regardless, we’re not so sure interested customers will care about such semantics, especially once they unleash the family hauler’s prodigious amounts of power out on a long stretch of highway.
The new Cayenne PHEV’s output will come from two sources, of course – its ICE powerplant, which will generate around 500 horsepower, while its electric motor adds another 200 hp or so to the mix. Porsche is giving the range-topping Cayenne an improved battery with 30 percent more capacity and fast charging capability to boot, with top speed coming in at 186 mph – the only performance figure Porsche has shared thus far.
Regardless, with a debut planned for later this summer – at which time order banks are set to open – and deliveries commencing in November, we shouldn’t have to wait much longer to learn all of the pertinent details about the 2024 Porsche Cayenne PHEV. For those that live in countries where the Turbo GT can’t be had due to strict emissions laws – like Europe – we imagine that it will be even more popular than places where it is, too.
