2017 Panamera Is 14 Seconds Faster, Sets Nürburgring Sedan Record
Panamera week continues!
Porsche is not an automaker that just puts out any ordinary car. When this company produces a new car, it has to stand out in some way or another. Porsche knows that having a “sedan” version of their performance cars is not the typical mantra, but if they’re going to cross into a different segment, the car is of course going to destroy all comers. That’s what the new Panamera is here to do.
With a 4.0-liter, twin-turbo V8, the new Turbo puts out 550 horsepower and 567 lb-ft of torque. To put it to the test, Porsche took it to the Nürburgring, naturally. And it absolutely excelled. The Panamera Turbo got around the track a full 14-seconds faster than the old model. It recorded a time of 7:38, which set the track record for a sedan by beating out the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio by one full second. Equipped with the Sport Chrono package, its 0-60 time of 3.4 seconds surely helped out.
Just to give you some sense of where that puts the Panamera Turbo, the McLaren MP4-12C lapped it in 7:28, and the Koenigsegg CCX went around in 7:33.6. So don’t forget to buckle up the kids in the back.
