2016 Porsche 911 R

Sotheby’s is auctioning the 911 enthusiasts have been dreaming about.

When Porsche moved away from the manual transmission on 911s in the 991 generation, many Porsche fans were upset. Even though the new, modern transmissions were nice, they still couldn’t replicate the feel of a six-speed manual. Well, Porsche heard the fan’s displeasure and decided to make a limited edition 911 that would take not only a manual transmission, but also add some more performance components. Due to only making 991 examples of the 911 R and never releasing them publicly, most Porsche enthusiasts never had a chance to buy one.

Next month, Sotheby’s is auctioning off a 2016 Porsche 911 R, and this is one special sports car. On the outside, you may just assume this is a typical 911, but you’d be wrong. Right off the bat, you probably will notice the bright green trim that isn’t found on 911s. This touch of green instantly lets people know this car isn’t your typical Porsche. The 911 R is, without a doubt, a fast car. With the 4.0-liter flat-six engine used in the GT3 RS combined with the new six-speed manual transmission, this car sounds like it belongs on the track, not the road.

There’s no denying the 911 R is a beautiful car, inside and out. Sotheby’s is valuing the car between $426,000 and $480,000, but no doubt, the 2016 Porsche 911 R is well worth it. Due to the limited chance to buy one since its release a year ago, having one on the market is the first chance for many to get their hands on this incredible car.
