993 interior ideas?
I've been wanting to personalize the interior of my 993 for some time...make it more euro or vintage or something. In a way that isn't too out there. I've debated the whole houndstooth or tartan look but the seat backs IMO are too rounded to suit that look. I also wouldn't know where to stop. The alcantara thing is kind of over for me. Are there any themes that are appropriate that I could look into? Car is black on black.
maybe a black leather and zipper trim look a la the gimp and halford? Lol
maybe a stamped leather for dash and door panels and seat centers?
anyone creative care to chime in?

I think you should start by renaming this thread "Pimp my Porsche." Let the creative juices flow. I'm a "less is more" type and it's easy to take a good concept and mess it up in the execution.

I was thinking about getting some of these. Retro. Functional. Add a little color in my all black interior. Best of all, no modifications required.

yeah i like the minimalist approach too which the car already is but it's also cool to see some personal touches as long as they're tasteful
Some reversible options:
gt3 seats
balliatic nylon rs door panels, dash inlay, seat inserts
console delete
xke style rockers on dash for departed console switches
Exposed wevo shifter

If you decide to lose your mind, you could go slightly-vintage 928 style seat inserts, patterned Porsche logo printed in the upholstery a la 944 style but laser burn them into the leather, and convert the car to full leather with deviated stitching like this mad fool - https://rennlist.com/forums/993-foru...l#post13507956

Easy stuff is to:
Dug up some old pictures, looks like the car needs serious cleaning!
- Wrap the door panel wedges in body color leather of vinyl Vinyl is more durable and keeps clean better.
- Make a body color matich shifter boot with a coat hanger wire lined bottom hem that snaps right over the OE boot. (non-invasive, reversible)
- Buy some gauge rings and paint them body matching color
- Replace your cassette/CD holder between the seats with a home made cup holder.
- Order replacement carpet/rugs with complementary colored ones.

I live in Sweden, the car was sold new in Spain. In Europe You had to pay extra for the sunroof so there are plenty of 993s arund without sunroof (and with the sweet G50/21 gearbox)!

Sorry I don't have it handy, but some rennlist searches would find it, '911 interior upholstery', or even google image searches, can give some ideas and there are venders who specialize in near authentic cloth patterns Porsche used and provide the service. It's definitely something that has crossed my mind as I recently treated my black leather with leatherique - what do I do when the leather potentially does where out? OR getting some FIA approved Speedster style seats reupholstered in a classic Porsche pattern while preserving my stock seats in storage. Singer has some cool interior designs that might provide some ideas.

I've toyed with ideas myself and looked at quite a few pics. I've come to find the best inspiration for the late model cars. They don't go crazy with contrast. Think GT3 Alcantera/leather seats with deviated stitching. Both leather and alcantera are black and the stitching provides minimal contrast. Trying to do the same with sharp contrasting colors turns the interior into a checker board. Think small color shifts mixed with different materials. Something timeless that won't get dated quickly. Whatever the case have fun and do what YOU want!

What about a bit of colour on the steering wheel

Nice. That half black half cashmere interior works. I like the way the black carpet extends to the door pockets, and is then finished with a vinyl cashmere band at the top of the pockets.
