Received our first initial shipment of the Roux helmets (finally!!!!!). We did a quick comparison of the Roux Carbon - size large versus the Stilo Carbon - size 59 (large).
From a fitment point, Linda liked the liner fit of the Stilo just a little bit better but for the price, the Roux fitment is great. Clark likes the fit of the Roux better - it was snugger in the cheeks (you can get thicker cheekpads for the Stilo to adjust fit if needed.) We did not test the sound quality yet.
Here's what you get out of the box with Roux:
Below is a grid comparing weight, ratings, accessories, etc.
The Roux is slightly heavier out of the box but it already includes:
Wiring/electronics
Water cooling
Hydration
Helmet Removal feature
We will be working through optional Roux accessories - the wiring is set up to connect to IMSA radio systems. So if you have a chatterbox or NASCAR setup, you'll need the IMSA to chatterbox or IMSA to Nascar adapter cord. And depending where your radio plug is located, you may need an extension cord.
We will be shipping backorders this week so bear with us if you have one on order.
Next big shipment is due sometime in October (fiberglass M, L, XL, and XXL. Carbon M, L, XL and XXL) with the exception of the Composite silver - only coming in medium. Large, XL and XXL sizes coming early 2017.
Another cool thing on the Roux helmets is that they include the Helmet Release system. It's like a Stand21 Lid Lifter but built into the helmet. I don't know if it's true or not, but Toto had said that lots of the safety crews don't have the pump for the Eject systems (it's something I'm going to investigate).
This is a nice little safety feature to have in the helmet.

Plus the Eject is recommended to be replaced very 2 years. The Stand 21 Lid Lifter and Roux helmet Release System don't expire.
Thanks for the great review, Clark. Will be sending you a few folks who have expressed interest!

Actually, I heard yesterday that they're waiting on the Zylon equipped helmet with a slightly shorter (vertically) eyeport to receive 8860 homologation now. Clarke might know more.
YES, we are working on an 8860 helmet but it will not be ready until mid to late 2017. PWC DOES NOT require an 8860 helmet. In fact you can drive with simply having a SNELL 2010 rating this year and next year they will require SNELL 2015.
IMSA only requires an 8860 helmet for the Weathertech series. Continental requires 8858 this year and next year they will require 8859
Thanks for the clarification. I knew I needed the rating (IMSA Weathertech) but assumed it applied to PWC too. Do the various pro sanctioning bodies "accept" helmet removal systems other than Eject?
Again from Toto - sounds like Eject is the only "authorized" release system at the moment where the sanctioning organization requires them. Always best to check the rules for your particular organization to confirm.
From Toto - (thanks Toto for the quick responses BTW)
The only organizations that mandate a helmet removal system are Indy Car and IMSA (Weathertech, Continental, Ferrary Challenge, Laborghini cup, and LMP Lights)
As far as I know only the EJECT system is approved.
Juan had a conversation with Jeff Mishtawi at IMSA about our RELEASE system and Jeff showed interest in having it allowed. However this has not yet been approved by IMSA.
All other organizations such as SCCA, (covers PWC, Trans Am, Mazda MX5 cup, US F4) do not require it. NARRA, FARA, PCA, PBOC, HSR, SVRA, NASA, NASCAR, etc do not require it.
