Anticipating A buyback on my 2010 Touareg TDI, I am looking at the Macan as a possible replacement. I thought I'd ask for opinions on a new base Macan vs a 2015 S CPO model.
The price point would be comparable. I don't care about straight line acceleration so was wondering if there are any compelling reason to choose the turbo 4 over the 6 or visa-versa? My Touareg has 120k miles and I had planned to shoot for at least 200k. My point is I keep my DD a long time. So probably any depreciation savings inherent in buying used wouldn't be as significant on a vehicle I keep a long time. As such I'm leaning towards new.
Any comments appreciated!

I went with the base nicely equipped for about the same $$$ as the CPO S

Macan:
* Brand new
* Easy to find one with the colors and options you desire
* Better fuel economy
CPO Macan S:
* 100k warranty
* Better performance
* Better sound
* Likely a better ultimate resale value due to an all-Porsche powertrain

I just test drove both this morning. I could be happy with either, and would probably choose the S. If as my sales advisor suggested might happen, the Cayenne diesels become available at 20% off with a CPO warranty, that might be a tough deal to turn away from.

1. Macan base has updated nav, pcm which is massive improvement vs a used S with old system.
2. If you drive a lot, the CPO miles are a nice piece of mind.
3. I bought a 16 CPO S recently for a DD. Its great for cruising, but it's NOT quick. Personally it feels much slower then what's advertised, and mine is loaded with all the goodies.
4. My wife has Cayenne Diesel. Great vehicle, more space for sure if needed. Gas mileage if fantastic if that's a concern. I'm always at the pump with my Macan S, mileage is awful for such a small vehicle. I will say that the Macan feels more solid, more tossable. However neither is a sports car, as others seems to imply!
Good luck, can't make a bad choice!

We are very happy with our 4 cylinder Macan. You could order one and configure it to your exact specifications. Great performance and MPG. I just did my first oil change on it a couple of weekends ago.

Just faced the same decision a month ago...
The updated PCM plus the ability to equip it as I like lead me to a new base Macan. The 2.0 is fine for a daily driver and road trip vehicle. Mileage is good, it's quiet, and it is has plenty of pep in sport mode. I don't regret anything about my decision.

Doesn't seem like you save much buying a used Macan S. Looking at a car online which was 64 new and now 2 years later and 18000 miles is still 56k....
I can pick up a Cayenne diesel one year older and 2k less miles for 42. Intrigued to see how well prices hold up on Macan over next 8 to 9 months seems like prices are holding as though these cars were still hard to get hold off. To put that in comparison to another car i am considering a GLA45 AMG same price as the Macan s when new and now sits at 44k and has only 8k miles on it.
