Question What's the Story on the new Exhaust Exit on the Cups at the Rolex24?

Looks completely different. Is this new for this year's Cups?

Mike, they look very different on almost all of the cars. It looks like one big single exhaust pipe versus the two pipes we've seen forever.

Last year many of them ran the single outlet exhaust. I'm guessing it helps with torque, but maybe someone else here could provide more details.

I have seen some cars with these at Orbit. They have all the RSR stuff under them which allows the car to be even lower. Perhaps the exhaust system also has to be tucked up inside the body due to this?

One thing is for sure, it is loud!

I believe that's the M&M exhaust.

its the 2012 PMNA exhaust. we have them on our two of our rolex 2010 cups.
they are pretty strong exhausts. on our 2010, offered several HP more than the previous iteration which was the twin tip exhausts.

M&M does not make the single outlet exhaust, but does make a replica of the twin. we just went through this in prepping two cars for sebring.

we were able to find the single port exhausts used for 2 of the cars and then found a third as a spare. pmna sells them but between the headers, connecting tubes and exhaust its a boatload of dough.

if anyone wants one, we have this third we bought as a spare for a couple of grand less than new. its a 2012.. they are all 2012s.

the one downside is DB. its a loud frickin nose maker for sure. you've heard the rolex cars. they scream.

ZSA will be at sebring tues>sunday with the two cars, if anyone wants to check out the exhausts come by.

Thanks for the details guys. I must not have been paying attention last year. I appreciate the education (always trying to learn more about these cars).

I have some pictures without the bumpers on the cars at the garages. I can post a couple of what I have later.

Off course M&M makes single outlet exhaust systems. Various teams in grand am ran them in the 24h Daytona race. Amazing product from M&M.

well, perhaps. when were building up this car for this customer, we wanted the single exhaust and was informed by FVD in the US (disributor for M&M) that they didnt have that exahust. they had a few dual ports. they pointed us to their website. the email specifically stated they couldnt do it. but then , that might just have been miscommunication or misunderstanding by a distributor, or us.

either way, I agree. M&M makes fantastic stuff. thats why we wanted it on the car originally.

Just talk to Tilo at M&M directly. TRG and Orbit ran their single outlet exhaust in the past years!

thats awsome. we ran the M&M stuff on our continental challenge boxsters and they were fantastic pieces of kit.
as noted, we were specifically told my FVD in the US that the single outlet exhausts werent available. oh well, wouldnt be the first time there was some miscommunication. great stuff.
