what do all of you hotshoes do with your used tires? im sure many of you only put a few heat cycles on them before going to the stickers....there used to be a guy in south carolina that sold good used michelin cups, yokos, etc for 75 each and they always had a ton of life left in them, but alas he is out of the tire business......so if anyone has thoughts about where to get decent used tires for a nasa chump like me, im all ears

Try John Berget Racing Tires in Wisconsin. He is on the Internet. Call and discuss. Very reliable. I have been buying tires from a while.
Let me know if you more info.

+1 on John Berget! Very forthright about what condition tires are in and VERY reasonable pricing. I just bought 2 sets of Michelins for my 09 and they are barely used. I believe I paid $90/tire, plus shipping.

I think you'll find in general that you can get good value doing this - and save $$ for other things. Do keep in mind that the tires will probably come in with "marbles" on them - just take them out and get them hot and they'll look like the bargain that they are.
That Riviera Blue is absolutely stunning, one of my all time favorite colors.

I do this all the time for test days, etc. Sometimes it's hit or miss but generally the tires are pretty usable for 6 or 8 short sessions.
Sure, they are 1-2 secs off fresh stickers but if you can get the car well balanced on the scrubs it generally works well and is easy on tires. Not going to be the ultimate setup for max qualifying speed though.
Anyway, saving the stickers for qual and races is a good way to help out the budget.

I have a bunch of used yokohama "patron" slicks with anywhere from 2 HC to 4 HC on them. I have gotten 15-20 HC from these before.
I rather not ship, so anyone close to San Diego can have first dibs.
