Well let's see maybe he bought a warranty. I was at the shop and had a discussion with the service manager.
A warranty was purchased from national when he bought the car at park place ltd in Bellevue.
He bought it with 62000 miles.

I'm sure he paid a crapload for it but nonetheless its still a full comprehensive warranty

ya know, the most disconcerting aspect of this is that the shop that did the teardown wasn't able to successfully complete the repairs.

im not the "shy" type, but i would probably keep the car I've got if this one was potentially my sideways swap into another.

or this one, anyway.. i guess it also would depend on your ultimate goals for the car. at least it'll be properly sorted once the dealer does the work. ( one would hope! )

Ya it's a pretty scary proposition. Once the repairs are complete we are gonna go for a long drive out to seabrook. I still haven't decided. I will make the decision once repairs are complete and I have driven for an extended period of time,
Some of it also depends on how service feels about what was done and their confidence in the motor.

So yes I plan on driving it and driving it somewhat hard. We will see what it can do!!!

well it's great that you'll have the opportunity to make the decision after everything is supposed to be completed.

I cant recall the specifics but let's say the car exits this work perfect and solid and without any concerns, why wouldn't price change?

He agreed to sell me the car 6 weeks ago prior to having the issue. After he listed he got a cel. The shop he took it to told him lifters needed replacing. He had taken this and other cars to him over the years and when asked. They said, "no problem we can fix it".

I asked him if he still wanted to sell at the agreed price and he told me he would.
Park place limited called him 2 weeks ago saying they could get him 40 for it out the door.

I again asked him cause I'd understand if he wanted to hold out for more money. Again he told me he'd honor the price.

So that pretty much the story.

Well the verdict is in. The shop that dropped the motor and replaced the lifter did something catastrophic. Car was towed to porsche fife, they dropped and determined engine needed to be replaced. Original shops insurance totaled it. So the deal of the century is no more

Just gonna enjoy the one I have and my new little go cart
