Transaxle mount tool
Some of you may have seen the AGA tool that presses the transmission mount bushing in and out without removing the transaxle. It is a huge time saver compared to removing the transaxle and using a press, but the tool is expensive. If I bought one, who would want to rent it when I was done using it?
Edit: Tool received, rental rate is $250 core charge, $180 refund upon return of tool.

Too bad I already did my transmission mount a few months ago utilizing a makeshift tool set up similar to the AGA tool, it would of been nice to have been able to rent it from a rennlist member. I think it's a swell idea what you are attempting to do and for future replacements of the Transmission mount I would be interested in using the fancy tool.

Just a word of advice... I had a small specialty tool rental business (for BMW stuff and also suspension stuff...
You have to assume the tool will not come back, or will come back in bad shape. So you have to account for that in the rental deposit. Basically the person has to buy the tool and then get a partial refund.
I had had more people "buy" the tool and never return it then actually rent them.
i had considered doing the same with all the tools I bought to re-construct my M96 engine although the endeavor is not lucrative. If you are doing it to be part of the community that is cool and I support that. If you intend on recouping money it may not be what you think it is...
Additionally a home brew version of that tool can be made for about $10-15 in basic form. So maybe a robust home built tool that would be no great loss if it didn't come back would be good?

I'd be interested but not for a few months.

This is the "rough version" of the tool that I used last night. It consisted of another flat plate and two 8" bolts and nuts. If I were to remake the tool it would have been thicker plate and I would have spaced out the backing plate a little more.

Okay I think I'm going to go ahead and order the tool. I'm doing it more just so I can have it and as a service to you guys on the forum. I like RRTEC's advice of renting it out with a large deposit, basically the renter just buys the tool, and I refund most of the deposit upon return (or you just keep it).

Well done for organizing this. Thank you. But please stick to the RRTEC rule.It would be a pity if you got swindled. And avoid anyone who dickers about the deposit. Ask me .....
