Just sold my '99 911 :(
This week we sold our '99 C2 6 speed coupe that we've had since December 2011. Bought it with 58k miles and sold it with 79k. Right after purchasing, I it took it to Flat Six and had them replace the IMSB, clutch, water pump etc. It was a wonderful car, always ran great. Reason for selling - we have 2 other Euro cars in our garage and some how have drifted to the British marques; with a 2000 Jaguar XKR convertible and recently a 2007 Aston Martin V8V coupe. With these 3 cars I don't have much time to drive the 911 and so reluctantly we decided to sell. Did it locally and only took 3 days - sometimes the right buyer comes along quickly.
Almost as soon as we sold it my wife was looking for a 911 convertible to replace the Jag, so I see another one in our future , probably later this year.
Here's pic of our latest addition

Had an XK8 and always wanted an AM.
Old mechanic I had picked one up like yours in 2010 for a song. Apparently while Ford drastically improved Jag's reliability, he said the AMs were still a nightmare. He loved that car though.
Still one drop dead sexy car though
Congrats.

It's a little heavier than the Porsche but 8 years newer and only 28,000 miles means it very tight, so it is a great ride. Much better than the Jag (which is a long distance high speed cruiser) and almost but not quite on par with the 911. You feel the extra weight in the corners but still a great machine.
As far as reliability, there is a lot you can DIY. The thermostat is a strange design with a rubber gasket that fails after 4-5 years, but I was able to replace it myself. The clutch is their weak point, so no drop the clutch / wheel spinning drag races but it can hold up well if you don't abuse it. There is the Aston tax - everything is more expensive, but I'm use to that with the Porsche, just another notch higher in $$.

That Aston is beautiful. My wife just bought a '17 Jag XE, pretty car also. So we have the Germans and Brits covered.

Always wanted a V8 Aston Martin, but the premium cost of parts and horror stories of reliability has steered me away. I am also not sure where I could get it serviced locally.
The premium cost for porsche parts alone is disgusting to me and is probably as "exotic" of a car as I will ever go.
