Default Bought my first 996

It's a Turbo. It's far away and I won't get it for a week or more, but on my list of things to do is swap the beige interior for black and get sport seats. Anyone with experience in this endeavor? My mechanic used to work at the dealership and has done the swap many times.

IMO, the 996 Turbo is the bargain of the used Porsche world.

1) Nice car.
2) Are you going to do a full interior swap (dash, console, etc.)? That sounds like it will suck.

Where in So Cal are you?
I may be buying a 2004 996 Targa this week that has a black interior.
Maybe interested in your beige interior

Hi, guys. Thanks for all the encouragement. Today was the day I wired the money. Whew. Car is coming from MN. Has Sport Techno wheels - I want the more common Turbo hollows... P.O. put a GT2 tail on it. A bit of an over-promise, but I can live with it while I spend money on other stuff.

Car has 48K miles and it's a 6-speed.

Interior is Savannah Beige with lots of dark burled wood pieces.

I think people use the term 'excited' a lot, but in this case, I actually am. And i've had over 50 911s...

Oh, and to 5CHN3LL's comment: my mechanic was factory trained and has done 3 full interior swaps on 996s. He's not intimidated by it. In a perfect world, I'd do an SY console and everything else black. The killer is the steering wheel, which costs almost as much as all the other pieces put together. But a straight swap would rock.

Okay, one more edit: I do not have a lead on a pair of nice sport seats yet.

Congrats on your SY turbo. Be curious to hear how it compares to your vast Porsche ownership.

Got my first Porsche in 71, and had up to 3 at a time. I've mostly had 2.4 long hoods. But also five 3.2s, a 3.3 Turbo, 944 turbo S, even a 912. I've also had four 928s, three Boxsters and a buttload of other cars. I'm a hobbyist, not a dealer. Currently restoring early 911s/and building hot rod 911s as a hobby. Here's a car I buit: http://www.autokennel.com/AutoKennel...tom_Build.html

Looking forward to the 996TT experience.
