Reverse/Back-Up Light Switch?
Okay so today i noticed while leaving work, my Reverse Lights are not working hence my Mirror Not going down while throwing the Gear into Reverse. I Played around for a bit with my Lever and the lights came on for a Second or Two and then gone. Not sure how long this has been going on, but i have noticed my Mirror not going down in the past 2-3 Days. I Always use my Reverse Mirrior Tilt function while reverse Parking.
After going some Reserach it seems to be the "Back-Up Light Switch 996.606.103.01" a common part that goes bad. My car is a DD with 175km on it. Is this Common? Is this the Culprit? I saw this DIY on Renntech http://www.renntech.org/forums/tutor...lights-switch/

Zook....most likely that is the issue. It happened to me too. I bought a cheap replacement on ebay. Don't do that. I had to replace it after developing a leak. Get oem for $30 (?). Simple change on top of the tranny. 30 minutes tops as a DIY.

I just did mine, I smashed mine when putting my tranny back in after doing the clutch. it is fairly easy, but it took a while for the dealership to bring it in for me. Very easy job to do, not sure how often these things fail though without being due to stupidity like mine

Just done mine and the easiest of DIY tasks. Jack the back up, lower it onto stands. Remove jack and lay under to the right side of the tranny. The wire marks the spot. Unplug, unscrew and I got mine for $28 at Autozone. Job done.

What Hurdi said, I just picked one up at Autozone...am putting it in tomorrow.
Here's a DIY for it.

Okay so I tackled this today and yes it was the switch gone bad. All good now with the new switch in. Reverse lights work and my mirror goes down. But definatly not 10 mins... On a C4S getting the under cover off and on takes a few mins and once you have it off the switch is right there but the damn thing is soo soft that when you turn it the wrench slips sometimes. But all in all not that hard to do.

In my 997.1, I have a check reversing lights error since putting my car back together. Didn't happen before I took the rear LED lights out, but actually activated the ignition with the light removed and now have this error with no reverse lights working. However, my passenger side mirror will tip down in reverse. If the mirror is working, does it mean the switch is OK, and it's something else (might need to disconnect and reconnect the battery to reset the bulb control module).
Thanks.
Thanks.
