Unhappy My brand new 996 has paint flaws on drivers door

Just detailed my speed yellow coupe for first time. I have had it for 6 days and certainly looked it over closely before buying. Noticed directly in center of drivers door 2 sharp bumps the size of a grain of salt beneath the clear coat and at the very point of each they are white as if the yellow is worn off. What to do??
Thanks all <img border="0" alt="[crying]" title="" src="graemlins/crying.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[crying]" title="" src="graemlins/crying.gif" />

Take it to the track for a few DE events. After the third or fourth stone chip, you won't notice the defect!

Seriously, you can have the dealer fix it. My car had a barely noticeable scratch on the rear decklid. After a half dozen trips to the dealer, it was finally fixed. And all my stone chips are on the front of the car, so my perfect rear deck still looks good, and was almost (well, really not even close) worth the effort to get it fixed. I say drive it! Drive it like there is no other car!

I understand what your saying. I SO carefully looked this thing over for 2 days before buying last week. Everything is just perfect but these 2 chunks of crud under the clear coat. The real trouble is they will get worse because they are quite sharp to the touch and waxing-polishing, etc... will wear the bumps down and esentially expose base coat. I wonder if they can be SO carefully wet sanded and touched up and be less noticeable

Talk to the dealer. They have dealt with this before.

Also, look at:

That's ridiculous. It's like when Testarossa's letters on the rear of the car are uneven. I was recently at a body shop where a brand new twin turbo was getting a scratch buffed out (not from the factory). Anyhow, it was pointed out to me that the rear spoiler was not an exact match (dark metallic silver) of the body's color. It was explained that the spoiler is painted in another plant. It's VERY, VERY close, but I was able to tell, and I'm not a pro. Sure, it had to be pointed out, but was pretty obvious afterwards. Isn't that ridiculous?

regards,

Thanks Patrick. And I agree Jon. I thought these cars were white gloved before they leave factory. Of course I didn't notice these flaws either and I did my own little white glove before buying. But after detailing and getting right in there so to speak, is when I found them. Now I can't take my eyes off the flaws.

The same thing happened to my 01 c2 cab when I got it new a couple of years ago. I did not realize it until my detailer pointed out specks of dust trapped under the clear coat as well as paint which had rolled off the side of the hood and then dried unevenly in a pocked formation. I complained to the dealer and the PCNA rep inspected the problem. They offfered to repaint my hood or polish it but I declined in the end as I did not want to alter the original paint.

They claim the hand-built nature of the P-car results in some imperfections. What I cannot understand is why in this millenium when the semiconductor plants are dust free, why they cannot do that at a car factory?

Should be covered under warranty as a defect in workmanship.

I had a slight color deviation on the driver side door. Took it back to the dealer and they repainted the entire door. It was a perfect match. Take it back to the dealer immediately!!!
