Usually I never like yellow cars, but a yellow carrera with black interior... Beautiful combination. Looks great!

I thought it might be best to add some more details about Tiptronic notes here: http://rennlist.com/forums/996-forum...e-driving.html rather than on this thread. And am hoping others will add their knowledge and experiences there as well.

Here are today's comments in response to the above question: http://rennlist.com/forums/996-forum...l#post14041854

But to add context for my views,
1. I came from a '93 968 with Tiptronic and very much liked it. That car is a 4 speed Tip and manual shifting is via the stick (no steering wheel buttons).
2. Since this is my first month of owning the 996 I sure am longing for a stick to really explore the limits of this wonderful car. That exploration has been more difficult with the Tip. I really want to get a feel for the 4WD, and experience the PSM, but haven't yet accomplished that.
3. No regrets at all on buying the Tip. All my Porsches have been daily drivers and around town, in freeway traffic, etc. the Tip is great and the stick would have no enduring advantage for me.

Roland, that thread was great. It seems that with practice/time you come more in tune with the system, and I can see how daily driving and city driving make a tiptronic valuable.

I think this thread should be stickied on the main 996 forum. I know of several 996 enthusiasts that love looking at the pictures of all the cars. Its a big incentive to get onto the forum.

What do you guys think?

Default Hello 996 forum

Hello All,

I've been lurking in the 996 forum for a year or two and I thought I'd introduce myself.

I roll in a pretty stock 2001 996 Cab Lapis blue with beige (my wife calls it babypoo) interior. Socal, so i can drive it top down most of the year.

here are some grabs of my first 911

well, that's all for now.
