Default Wind deflector on Cab?

I'm thinking about getting one....my question is guys with one, is there a noticeable difference. I do want to drive it on the hwy to get to some nice roads with the top down.

Yes, the difference is significant and immediately obvious.

If you end up buying new deflector, make sure you have all the mounting hardware. Also... if you go with GAHH replacement top, make sure they install lining zipper in such a way that deflector zips up properly.

Absolutely couldn't agree more with the previous poster. Immediate noticeable difference. Well worth the $$

I just bought a cab and thought I would have to buy one. I was pleasantly surprised that I didn't need to. I also have a 991 with a sun roof. I love to drive the 993 cab with the top down and I don't like to drive the 991 with the sun roof open. I've never driven a 991 cab but I suspect that you would have to have one with that. If you want very little air movement you will have to buy one, but I like the gentle breeze. My recommendation is make the decision if you feel it's needed after you get the cab.

It makes a world of difference. It's like driving around with a big sunroof.

I notice a difference with the wind deflector on the highway, but not so much around town.

^^^ Agreed. I like having the wind deflector in when driving on the highway, but for around town I never bother to put it in.

You know you don't have to put it up manually?

Was this in response to my message about not putting it in except for the highway? If so, than do you keep the wind deflector in when you close the top? I just assumed that I needed to take it out first.
TIA.

No need to remove with top up or down. As long as the hardware is installed it can be in the up or down position. I have never removed mine. Mike

That's exactly what i was commenting on. You don't have to take it out. Leave it in place. The roof closes and the deflector ends up tucked under the roof. When the roof is lowered, the deflector ends up popped in place. After that, if you want to, you can just push it down for city driving, but that's not really needed either.

You can also unzip the flap zipper, push the deflector down (backwards), move the flap over the deflector and re-zip, "hiding' the deflector. If you then close the roof, deflector end up hidden "inside" the roof. That's good for driving when you are not planning to lower the roof for weeks or months at a time.

The bottom line, the wind deflector is designed not to be removed from the car at all. It's also a good idea to leave it in place instead of yanking and re-installing it every time.

Seriously consider a boot cover if your cab doesn't have one.
The head liner can get damaged at highway speeds.
Wind Stop and boot cover is a classic look for these cars.

If you top has been replaced and you ended with a botched job like what I have on mine, watch it, I almost snapped my new windstop when I closed the top. The way they installed the liner (too low) prevents the windstop from sitting high enough in the liner creating tension on the (very small) actuating lever.
Just a note of caution, raise the top slowly the first time and make sure that lever doesn't get loaded.

I concur. The wind deflector makes a huge difference. I believe it interferes with the backlash of air that swirls down and hits you in the back of the head. With it, I can leave my cap on unless I'm really tooling down the road.
