Built Porsche Tough - Tijuana Mexico Adventures
Driving a 991s through Mexico you say? Are you insane? Maybe, maybe stupid, or just brave. For the last month I have been going deep in Tijuana, areas where most tourist never would step foot. Not saying Mexico is dangerous, or if there are people out to get you, but let's face it, it's not Rodeo drive. Most people in Mexico mind their own business, just trying to get by, their not bad people.
Why though!? I met a special someone, and for me driving my only car to go see her is priceless. She better be hot, indeed.
Have you had any issues?, None so far actually, knock on wood. Police have not stopped me and nobody bother you... not like how it's protrayed. Sure, people look... Perhaps looking at me like, who's that imbissle... Kids are little wowed, let's face it, how many 991 you see there... Nonetheless the car has handled the city terrian well.
How are the roads? Not smooth. Random pot holes you must dodge, or end up sinking a whole tire. Think of it like an obstacle course... Sometimes entertaining, sometimes tiring. This is not your boring *** drive on Sunday... Full engagement, speed as you please, anything can happen at anytime... Smooth roads one section, pot hole, bump, all random.
Overall I must say these 991 can take some good abuse, well built for any purpose. I do not bottom out on the speed bumps which are prevalent everywhere. I would not go lower, a gt3 would be a fail, GTS would be pushing it.

Women will drive a man to do crazy things.
Have a big and good plan if/when you get a flat tire
In all seriousness, be cautious. Each time is a gamble, especially in that ride.

The picture kind of reminds me of one of those Vin Diesel movies where the bad guys suddenly appear on the rooftops w machine guns and grenade launchers to pin you in Be safe!

Well, at least if something breaks down, you will know how to fix it!

1. TIRE ISSUES = American Express, YES they will help you in Mexico too. Once my buddy HIT a dog on the freeway with my car, and we called Amex and they towed it across the border.
2. Pepper spray, never leave home without it!
3. Anyone looking for a fun drive who lives in so-cal, head over to Rosarito. Toll road with Fantastic smooth scenic drive. Its Germany in your backyard. No seriously, go as fast as you want!

Obviously you have more money than sense. Wouldn't catch me in a million years down there sticking out like a sore thumb. Not like the old fun days in TJ. I hope you don't lose your head! Literally

The idea of driving a 991 through Mexico reminds me of that scene in Die Hard With a Vengeance, when Bruce Willis is wearing that sandwich board in Harlem...
OP, you're nuts, but it's your life. No car or woman could get me to drive through Mexico with essentially a target on my back.

You guys are funny
What if I told you there is another dude doing the same? I'm not alone. I came back from lunch, bam, I thought I was seeing doubles.

I like my wheels too, but BLACK wheels from a distance look like HUBCAPS, and when dirty not very good looking.
Also, the offset is very inward, 70mm rear
Putting some HRE's on SOON!
