Progress update. New good second hand panels fitted and gapped. Next they'll be removed and prepped for painting.

Getting closer.

Good to see the positives coming through Doug. She'll be out on the raid soon enough.

Yes, that's actually quite a good colour combo there Doug. It works. I'm tempted with the orange T to wrap the frunk lid in something harmonious with orange. (I'm close to being an expert now after my first wrap effort on BB2's bonnet).

After Dave kindly posted some older photos of Lola prior to my ownership I was inspired to start restoring the original D90 wheels. I have two sets of 16" D90s and a set of 17" Cup IIs which I mostly use on the road, plus a set of 17" 996 wheels with track tyres.

Dave (previous owner) had experimented with various colour schemes with plasti-dip and I naievely thought I could have this peeled off in an hour or so. What a ***** of a job, especially in the areas where the plasti-dip coating was thin, preventing it from peeling. After a while I googled it and watched some videos. Tried spraying them with CRC and leaving them a while then attacking with the water blaster. I don't recomomend that method. Very messy and slow.

Eventually I got better at peeling the thin layer of pastidip and just needed CRC at the end to soak the bolt holes and the porsche colour logos inthe hum centre cleaning off the dissolving plasti-dip with rags. The 4 wheels took me about 3 hours I think. Here's a couple of photos.

Before and after...

Yeah, sorry about that Doug. I got the easy part; putting it on. But they look good now and I reckon a lowered 964 on D90's is the ultimate sleeper look. Especially with chunky race rubber.

This is what the tan coloured D90's looked like when fresh. The one in your photo half peeled is Tan but well ingrained with brake dust. I found after the first track use when the wheels got hot, the brake dust got sucked into the hot plastidip and couldn't be cleaned.

The dark grey ones looked pretty good when fresh.

The battleship grey powdercoated D90's didn't quite work, but the copper colour certainly seemed to look good. Better stop hi jacking your thread with my self indulgent look back at my time with Lola!

Nah, keep it coming Dave. It weeks weird but I'm loving the look of the D90's. The Cup2s fill the guards better but i think the D90s are cool too. Thanks for posting up what they looked like before brake dust and heat nailed them. In time I'll get the original ones refinished in silver so I've got a set of hot rod ones and a set of originals.

Yeah, with big rubber it looks great.

One more; my favourite configuration. Copper D90's and race rubber. That was the day of the Turbo convoy to HD.
