Default 993 Plastic Runner Replacing 964 Aliminum

Hi,

I was going to use the complete 993 intake/ecu on my 964 engine. After talking to Steve Wong, I have decided to return to the original 964 configuration. Steve Wong will be making a chip for me.

However, I now have a 993 plastic intake. Has anyone used one to replace their aluminum 964 intake?

I have taken them both apart, the are very similar, there is one nipple that is a different size.

Can I adapt it??????? Thanks!!!

You're just talking about the plenum halves only, right? Not the whole throttle body center sections? If yes, then yea, you should be okay.

Thanks for the link. It has some answers.

They appear to be almost identical. It looks like it may work. There is a difference in one fitting size, not sure what it is for? Possibly other differences.

I believe that fitting is related to the vacuum hose for the brake booster. You can't fit the existing hose onto the plastic intake fitting?

Thanks for the reply. If that is all that it is, I "should" be able to use it, still not 100% sure. As the car is 1977 911, I am not sure how the brake vacuum is used with a 3.6 conversion.

The intake and stacks of the 993 match the mild porting of my 964 cylinder heads.

Does your 911 have a vacuum brake booster? On the 964 C4 and RS cars, this fitting is capped off since they run an electric pump hydraulic brake booster.

I believe they have vacuum powered "Servo" power brakes.

If this is the case, I should be OK, as the 993 and 964 engines are both used in conversions to earlier cars. They both use the same brake setups.

I will have to adapt the fitting, and it should work fine.
