Sounds like a great trip chaps...

Coincidentally we (a group from Porsche Club Ireland) are kicking off our Euro Trip the week prior to yours. We are staying at the Camponile in Reims on the way to Stuttgart on Tuesday 9th. A few of the lads have stayed there previously and say it's spot on.

Enjoy the trip...and if you pass a group of Irish reg 911s along the way be sure to give us a flash and a wave!

Rich, are you coming down into the French or Swiss Alps?

Hi,

We sail in on the Rosslare to Cherbourg ferry arriving Tues 9th. Plan is then a leisurely drive down to Riems maybe stop at the Normandy beaches on the way. We then make our way down to Stuttgart for a few days and then onto the Ring for the weekend, then back to Calais for Monday and home through Holyhead to Dublin.

Still firming up on the in between details but that's the crux of it!

Can't wait!

We are heading down through Reims on the 11th and onto Troyes for the night and back to Reims for the evening of the 15th and Calais on the 16th for the Eurotunnel.
If you're in or near Reims go to the old GP pits and grand Stand, it's a good place for a photo op apparently.

Sounds great Stuart. Shame that our groups will just be missing each other by a day or two!

Plan is for a photo shoot at the old GP circuit alright....will post a few pics up here when back.

Is the Audemars Piguet museum open to the public? I thought visits were "by appointment", whatever that means! The Musée international d'horlogerie in La Chaux de Fonds is near by, and supposed to be very good.

Sounds like a great trip....wish I could join you!

Well, it says opening times and nothing about appointment, but i'll take a ride over there in a few days and double check.
Choux de Fonds is an option, plus you also have another Audermars facility in Le Locle too, but they are a bit out of our way, keeping them in mind though.

Sorry, been busy building a car!!!

Stuart, very happy to fit in with the general plans so please just assume happiness from myself and Simon.

We have a way to go to finish the car, but every resource is being utilised to get her finished.

So looking forward to this trip!

Just been told about the Sanef toll device that you clip to your windscreen and clears you past all French Tolls automatically. It then debits your UK nominated account. It's free to sign up and sounds like a no brainer if you visit France more than once every two years. You can find a link to it on the Eurotunnel website.

So, I'll book the hotel for the 15th in Reims, hopefully a Campagnile and confirm once I've done it.
I'll try and keep the cost at around the 80.00 euro mark if possible.
If I have time, I will take a ride out this coming Friday to the watch museum and make sure there is something worth visiting, possibly a factory tour etc.

Regarding the SANEF toll pass, yes it's worth it if you are travelling through France on the motorways on a regular basis, which I have done over a number of years, but I've never bought a pass.
If you are on your own in a right hand drive car, no doubt it will save you time and trouble.

Here are a couple of links with info on the passes.

Re Sanef I was going to post about this too. Been using for a couple of years, mainly for the Le Mans trips.

Any of us travelling together from the UK need this; otherwise none of us need bother as we'll all have to wait. It's brilliant, you just sail through in a dedicated lane past any queue.

Frank, I think he means breakdown, not general insurance.

i noticed when i booked the Eurotunnel, that they offer it for £80.00 as opposed to direct line (i think) at £117.00
