Default 964 Toolkit Contents - with photo!

My driver's side window stopped working so I fixed it by following the instructions in Adrian Streather's book (and the manual, too, I think): removing the tweeter and winding the mechanism up and down a few times - it did the trick.

However, the book talks about a Torx bit that attaches to the crank in the toolkit. My toolkit doesn't have such a bit, so I used a Torx screwdriver.

This got me curious about what else might be missing in my toolkit. There is a great link http://www.rsamerica.net/OEMinfo/toolkit/index.htm that shows what's in the RS America toolkit, which has a 964 part number, so is presumably the same kit as in the 964 (?)

In the RS America kit there is no mention of a Torx bit. My kit has several items that aren't in the RS America kit, e.g. a couple of large ring spanners that I'm pretty sure are original to the kit, as they are marked Made in W. Germany. I also am missing several items that are in the RSA kit.

I'd be very interested to know what a complete kit for the '91 964 should contain: anyone have photos or a reference?

The Torx bit you refer to looks a bit like a large allen key and is also used for changing the fan and alternator belts so would be worth you getting one.

I thought i had read somewhere that you should need a 12-sided bit, also called a triple-square bit, to fit into the end of the alternator shaft.

+1 on the triple square tool for the alternator.

Sorry, I don't have any photos of it.

someone post a pic of a complete 964 tool kit. I'd be interested to see what's missing out of mine!

Here's the description from the USA "Katalog". It's clear that the photos on the RS America web page http://www.rsamerica.net/OEMinfo/toolkit/index.htm are missing some tools, even though they seem to be very confident that they have everything ... ?

It would be great to see a photo of a 964 toolkit that someone knows is original and complete.

Don't know if it's original, or complete, but here is the kit that I got with my 91 C4

From the left:
17/19
11/10
9/8
15/14
13/12
13/12 box ends
19 lug wrench
tow hook
Hex twist handle
Hook
Flat blade screw driver
Philips blade screw driver
12 point (alan looking wrench)
12 point extension
12 point plug wrench (takes 12 pt at knurled end)
small philips blade w/ handle
24 box end
pliers
Sun roof handle (I think)
lug key
Oh, and the little alan I found when I was putting it all back together. Not sure if that was supposed to be in there, or not

Superb ... many thanks! What's the angled tool with the knurled ****, top right hand on your first photo?

(I have the same Allen key in mine, so it must be standard.)

I'd have to check the manual, but I think it is to close the sunroof in the event of a power/motor failure.

I'd be really interested in a photo of the tool kit and jack properly packed away. When I bought my 964 everything was a mess and I'm struggling to find the proper home for all the parts.

When I bought my car the toolkit was in the pocket on the gas tank.

Recently I've moved it to the spare area tucked up near the front bumper. I've left the lug wrench in the pocket and can now comfortably include a pair of gloves, spare belts, a rag, touch up paint and DME relay.

It's more weight over the front, but everything seems more snug now.

I can post pics later if you like.

Looking down inside the front trunk (boot) with the front of the carpet un-snapped.
