I would probably go with an ls1 over an ls2 just because the power difference is negligible and an ls1 with bolts, cam, and tune would probably make all the power I think I'd need.

Congrats on the move!
The LS2/3's are nice, don't get me wrong, but my LS1 with a mild cam makes all the power i could need (plus the 951 transaxles just won't take unlimited amounts of power, so pick your battles...). My biggest issue so far has been fitting an air intake that can move enough air. Version 1.0 only let me run up to 5700rpms. :/
I'll keep my mouth shut about RH, but i certainly wouldn't say that their stuff is any better engineered than the "other" stuff, and i have the RH kit on my car. But it's your money...

Sure, in some peoples eyes your car will be worth less money. However, there will be a lot more eyes that see it as worth more.
Just ask DVC how many offers he's had on that car. I've told him before I'd love to buy it. I would buy that car in a heartbeat...for a lot more then most people would expect (well past 88 Turbo S prices...if that gives you an idea ).

I've been wanting to move to another project (because that's what I do) but bang for the buck.... the 951 LS1 is almost unbeatable on the track.

Congrats and GLWS.
I don't have any pics of the 430s, but here is 1 of the old cars my father's team races. Powerhold (on the front bumper) is my family business. You'll have a lot of fun....that is for sure.

Hell, a 1997-1998 LS1 is garbage compared to a 99+ LS1. The LS2 is very similar to a LS1 in terms of block structure. The big difference is when they went to the LS3 as it has some differences in the block that really separate it from early LSX motors.
Regardless, I would go with the LS1 for cost vs performance aspect as LS1 vs LS2 with mods only separated by about 20-30whp.

Well all my parts came in just before Christmas so my mechanic & I have been working on his days off in my office garage. Here is where we are so far. Radiator & wiring harness go in this weekend.

Cool.. not exactly ready for a test run this week eh? Projects and budgets are ALWAYS at least 2xs longer; more money than expected. Glad to see the progress though. What are you going to do for brake hydraulics?

Looks good! Glad you spent the time to clean out your old engine compartment, it's looking good!
There are a few things that RH does not address that will definitely need your attention. Power steering is one of them! I would highly recommend picking up the swap manual. I put up instructions for (properly or improperly?) modifying the stock pump at 944hybrids.forumotion.com.
The stock, unboosted brake m/c just plain sucks, make sure you re-drill the brake pedal at the very least. I'm about to do the upgraded clutch m/c as well (going from a 3/4 to a 7/8)...the stock clutch m/c is not well matched to the RH slave, and i think i've taken years off my transmission trying to make it work!
It will really be a different animal once it's running, but make sure you leave room in your budget for additional upgrades (the ones i've listed as a starting point). The RH setup is a good start, but it's far from being everything you need.
