Default Square pop up lights on a 928

Has anyone ever heard of square pop up lights on a 928. The current owner was told by the person he bought it from that there were 2 factory cars built, one white and the other black with this feature but I haven't been able to find any support for that. First thought is that they were aftermarket but can't find any pictures on the net that are even close.

Picture is attached. Any ideas.

Probably aftermarket that took a lot couple time and money to make. I think they look better than the stock ones.

I've seen a few comments that the factory did indeed build a few cars with square pop ups, more than two though. Maybe someone can run your VIN here.

Default Headlights

Thanks for the post. It is the same headlight treatment. Now need to find out if it is factory or aftermarket. I have the local Porsche dealership researching also.

I have the local Porsche dealership researching also.
That would be a wasted effort.

I never imagined that there might be 928 owners who do not like the pop-up head lights Such a design feature that brings smiles to people when the see them com up.

From the looks of the wiring around the sides of the Radiator and the Trim treatment around the Lights, IMHO it is not a factory job.
I do like it, reminds me of the 911 slant nose style

Easiest is to pop the forward wheelwell shield out and look at how those lamps are fitted. A factory effort would have the fender stamped to include the different-shaped opening.

The holes in the fenderwall would be at the rear of the lights rather than at the lower front as stock. A modified forward linkage, or electric actuators ala Corvette would be a telltale that it wasn't done at the factory.

Most cars ordered with odd options like this include references on build sheets and options stickers. If you don't have the original window sticker, pull the carpet/cover under the hatch to see the options sticker put there when teh car was built. Post a picture, along with the VIN, and our resident options/VIN-decoding experts will help you out.

COA on 928 are pretty much not worth the effort.

It's the 928 for people who don't really like the 928 but want something a little different than an 80ies Corvette...
