Building and service aside, I wish Greg had a website that displayed all the stuff he makes & sells. Christmas is right around the corner...

After Sharktoberfest.....Rob Rossitto was in the middle of working on a website update, when he got his infection and passed away. Rob Edwards has figured out how to change my existing website....so he and I are going to work on updating it.

My problem (one of them....it's a long list) is that I'm just not "into" the business part of being creative.

I love to create, I love to fabricate, I love to make prototypes, I love to test.

I dislike marketing, selling, and making out invoices.

I must have 50 products for the 928s, now....all special sauce stuff....just kept secret, because of a complete lack of marketing. "Word of mouth" is the only way it happens, right now.

I've never cared much about money....just need enough to survive and work on the next project. "Making" big piles of it always seemed so silly....making something that people want and need....that's the real goal.

I'd be much happier if I could simply send everything off to people, free.

Funny, that suddenly sounds like I'm a closet Democrat.

Not really. You would deal in production and worth. If someone is "paid" in something other than money when they produce something - thats not a leach, I mean liberal ideal. Its an ideal of a producer, which you are.

Timing on this was funny. I was on the way back from San Fran after the outlands concert and exactly 200 miles from Greg's shop my water pump went out on I5. I had my baby towed to his shop, Greg and his Bride stayed ate to receive her and we started to look at the work ahead.

My motor had about 100K since the PO had done so work (spent lots of $ to fix something that went wrong) and she did not have the standard 928 power. I have an 90K clean motor in my garage I have been going through that I was going to drop in. After working with Greg and looking sat what was the right thing to do to get my belt/water pump replaced, the gears were warn, and a few other things like my AC issues the $s in parts alone looked bad (just standard parts ya-know).

We started the discussion on this lovely 6.5 l, I did the real accounting of that motor, the cost of his motor, my desire to have some more hp and it was an easy trade.

His system, plus all the bonuses like better mpg (about 8 more that I was getting, 4 more that normal) and I pulled the trigger.

I could not buy a car this much fun, with this much power and control for near what I have it her now.

I am one happy puppy!

Thanks again Greg and those that recommended his power system.

SO JEALOUS........................................................

I recall a "ride" I had with the late (and dearly missed) Rob Rossitos freshly rebuilt stroker automatic....it was December 2007.....Robs stroker was just re-built due to a leaky headgasket (Not Doc's fault) plus a few upgrades...... Keep in mind Rob was in a wheelchair, so he drove with hand controls....steered with his left hand and did brakes-throttle with his right hand...quite impressive to watch in person!

We leave Doc's shop....then the insanity begin....talk about TORQUE...INSANE....mad wheelspin of is 275 rear tires....driving like a madman....on the freeway....silly fast...off the freeway, pulling mad G on off ramps...I tighten down my 4 point harness.....I'm thinking "don't be a *****" "he just spent big $$$$ rebuilding this car he is NOT going to crash it" "tighten down the belts just in case!"

We are hauling A$$ down a city street.....and I am thinking...WOW he must have great brakes since Sharky (my 88S4 at the time) couldn't stop in time to not DRILL that honda accord.... Umm...well apparently his 1985 didn't have ABS....he locks it up, gets a little sideways and I am thinking "Ohhhh shiiiiittttt this is gonnna HURT!!!" At the last possible second Rob hangs a right into an industrial park and misses the accord by inches......doing all of this with ONLY his hands!!!!

split second later we are back at Doc's.....safe to say I got the "ride" Doc wanted me too...rather more than Rob was anticipating!!!! RIP Rob...great guy and you are missed!!!

I wonder which will be more wise - Stroker Automatic or a Stroker Manual?

Manual. As long as you have enough clutch to handle it.

Rob was always a bit on the "crazy side"....he was a very successful desert motorcycle racer. I think his 928 was his "motorcycle replacement". I was smart enough to never ride with him. I'm sure that he "showed" Iceman God that day....they both came back a whole lot whiter than when they left...

Rob was a great guy....and I'll always miss him.

My favorite "Rob" story was right here, in my alley. He had towed down his car for some work and we were helping him unload it. A 53" truck and trailer was coming down the alley....and we were making room, but Rob was sticking kind of far out into the alley with his wheel chair. I said to Rob, "Look out for this truck....you wouldn't want him to hit you and turn you into a fricking cripple."

We laughed and laughed....I'm sure Rob told this story often and to many.

As a footnote to this thread, I have some of the equipment from Rob R's car:
GTS brakes - On my '86.
Custom Exhaust - On my '86. Loud.
Front Spindles - In my loft. As noted above, not ABS.

Not my car, it was the prettiest Google images pic that came up when searching for 928 GTS 5-speed. Those are factory rootwood inserts on the doors and console. That is likely a European car since only 20 89-95 928's came to the U.S. with the rootwood option. (12 dark rootwood, 8 light rootwood)

Honestly, the transmission choice is 110% personal preference. I have been fortunate to drive both 5-speed and automatic strokers, and I definitely prefer the 5-speed for hooning around. With the right clutch, the 5-speed launches harder, rolls on quicker when underway, and is more engaging to drive, but if I actually used the car at all as a daily-driver in SoCal, the automatic would be a much more sensible option.

Which transmission for stroker........... Due to the rarity and fragile nature of 5 speeds....I would do automatic....lots of parts available and they handle high torque better than the 5 speeds.....sure its a different driving experience.....

But now that I think about it......typically the strokers that frag transmissions are race cars running on slicks.....I don't of many (any) street strokers that blew a 5 speed transmission?
