Dim (!) exclamation point warning light
Recently on a day it was raining, I was driving to work when the (!) central warning light began to flicker and finally settled on "dim." No warning messages lighted up on the non-digital dash, and the (!) on the AC switch didn't light up. Pushing the (!) reset button didn't clear the dim exclamation point in the center of the dash.
Before I go chasing a bunch of potential sources, like grounds, brake pad or abs sensors, etc., I wanted to first ask if anyone knows whether the (!) in the dash is triggered by a relay closing, and whether years of carbon build up (or something) could cause a small contact to be made between the normally-open gap in some relay somewhere.
I purchased a central warning computer off ebay for cheap, but I'd rather not bother to swap it out until I find out if it might be as something as easy as a relay that needs to be cleaned or replaced.
Thanks in advance and I will keep the post going as I troubleshoot and eventually figure this out.

have you had your pod off lately?
Last time mine was off, I didn't get the electrical connections put back on tight enough and I had all sorts of dim warnings lights.

Handbrake causes the (!) light go full on as well as the warning message in the cluster. Haven't had the pod off recently. Will go ahead and swap out the central computer and see if that takes care of it.

Cancel ...I'm a moron...found another thread where someone was having same issue and it was the fuse for the light switch light and etc....#7 on the poster's car...#6 on mine..I was checking some fuses and absentmindedly stuck that fuse into one of the handy little spare fuse holders on the top of the panel...those are nice..anyway..sorry for the bother folks...
Hi gang...resurrecting this thread....I am experiencing dim central warning light...exact same symptoms as described..no messages...emerg. brake switch working correctly...cannot find any issue ...
Was a replacement of the central warning light system in the console finally your answer, bd0nalds0n?
Thanks!

you may want to check your alternator. If memory serves me correct if it is putting out to low of AMPs it might not be low enough to trigger the warning light but enough for the computer to light the central light. Also check your grounds.
