My oil never gets dirty, so no need to change the filters...
A couple mote years' worth of Mahle filters on the shelf. Then stock up from Jim again. Mark, what's the question on this? Another option you are looking at?

I only use Porsche original filter since the extra cost is very small.
They look a litlle different from a Mahle OEM filter, not sure if it would make any difference at all though.

No but 12 USD when I was in the US a couple of weeks ago
I change oil and filter every autumn before goes into the garage for winter rest.
If I pay 6,5 or 12USD doesn't feel critical compared to the total cost of owning this car.

Still is 85 % higher price but I agree not much money either way ! But if you factor in the cost of your airfare to take them to Sweden ....those are some expensive filters. Reminds me of when My brother in the Airguard flew with a squadron of F104s to Maine from Indiana and back with a load of live lobsters !

Hi,
Mark K - IMHO it is wise to only use the Mahle or MANN (or OEM) filters
These can handle the high pressures generated within the 928s lubrication system (9bar+) and the filtration media is robust enough to handle these pressures for long periods
The MANN W730 filter's differential by-pass system operates at around 2.2bar and this ensures an early return to filtration with cold or quite viscous lubricants
Some "pattern" filters used on 928s have either had filtration media breakdown, a lower by-pass "crack" point (or of an unsuitable design) and/or external casing failure
MANN is a world leader in advanced lubricant filtration and I have used their Centrifuge filters over very long distances and for many years with great success. These can filter down to around <1micron and they can rotate at up to 10000rpm - these are NOT suiable for use on a 928, or even required
Regards

Thanks. I just remember horror stories and actually seeing what a filter does to an engine when the presure valve fails. (did you see the viper go Boom on TV during a WC race? ) as long as the Mann is as good as the Mahle, I'm ok. just wanted to know that the Mann was not the "Fram" equiv in germany!

Amsoil filter? Is there such a thing for the 928?
